On the afternoon of July 31, the leader of the People's Committee of An Khanh Commune (Hanoi) confirmed that a particularly tragic drowning accident had just occurred in the area, causing the death of two children.
According to initial information, the incident occurred at around 6:00 p.m. on July 30 in Dong Nien village (formerly in Dong La commune, now merged into An Khanh commune). At that time, the two boys - one was preparing for grade 1 and the other was preparing for grade 5, went together to the playground near the family's rented room. While playing, the two unfortunately slipped and fell into a well located near the area.
As soon as the incident was discovered, local people and relatives quickly removed the children from the water and took them to the emergency room. Despite the efforts of doctors and nurses to treat him, after only two hours, both children did not survive.
The leader of An Khanh Commune People's Committee said: "The accident happened so suddenly and heartbreakingly. Both of them are still too young. The children's families have just moved to rent a room in Dong Nien village. The children's parents are from Nghia Hung (Nam Dinh province, now Ninh Binh province). At the time of the incident, the father of the two children was at home, but due to negligence in caring for him, it led to serious consequences."
Immediately after the incident, local authorities visited, expressed condolences and encouraged the victim's family. At the same time, An Khanh commune has directed the review of all areas with potential accident risks for children, especially places with wells and lakes that are not covered. Warning and coverage measures will be urgently deployed to prevent similar tragic accidents from occurring in the future.
