On the afternoon of November 19, the People's Committee of Hai Duong province held the November meeting (3rd time) to listen to and discuss opinions on the content of the reports and submissions of the Department of Planning and Investment, Department of Construction, Department of Education and Training. Mr. Le Ngoc Chau - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hai Duong province chaired the meeting.
At the meeting, the People's Committee of Hai Duong province agreed with the content of the report of the Department of Construction on adjusting the Urban Development Program of Hai Duong province to 2030.
The specific goal is that by 2025, Hai Duong will have 16 urban areas, with an urbanization rate of about 45%. By 2030, there will be 28 urban areas, with an urbanization rate of about 55%; it is expected that Hai Duong province will strive to meet the criteria of a type I urban area and some basic criteria of a centrally-run city.
By 2050, Hai Duong will achieve an urbanization rate of over 65%; the province will complete the criteria for a type I urban area and become a centrally-run city.
The total capital demand for the implementation of the Hai Duong Province Urban Development Program until 2030 is estimated at VND 384,500 billion, of which the 2024-2025 period needs about VND 65,500 billion; the 2026-2030 period needs about VND 319,000 billion.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Construction to take the lead in developing a specific plan to upgrade urban areas, especially those established after 2030, to have a roadmap for implementation. In addition, develop a plan and prepare resources for Hai Duong province to complete the criteria of a type I urban area, propose solutions to prepare resources for urban upgrading, and ensure feasibility in implementation.
Emphasizing that urban development in Hai Duong province is a long-term task, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Construction to be responsible for urging, supervising and evaluating the situation throughout the implementation process according to the approved plan.
