On September 2nd, Mr. Pham Van Hoa - Chairman of Muong Long Commune People's Committee, Nghe An province said that the landslide situation in the Trung Tam village area is developing complicatedly, the volume of landslides is very large.
Previously, the road from the Muong Long Heaven Gate area, belonging to Trung Tam village to Sa Lay, Tham Hang, Tham Hoc villages and surrounding areas was damaged by landslides.
After the incident, the Department of Construction of Nghe An province deployed construction to repair the road to ensure traffic. While waiting for completion, the local government opened a temporary road along the stream for people to travel.
However, on August 31, hundreds of cubic meters of soil and rock from high mountains suddenly poured down into the construction area, then overflowed and buried the temporary road along the stream.
By September 1, landslides continued to occur in this area. The amount of soil and rock from above is increasing, covering many locations, causing difficulties for recovery work and people's travel.
According to the leader of Muong Long commune, due to the large volume of landslides, handling requires technical plans and appropriate resources. Local authorities are reporting and proposing to the People's Committee of Nghe An province and functional agencies to consider long-term handling plans to ensure traffic safety.
In the immediate future, Muong Long commune has opened a service road through the scene area, and at the same time arranged forces to guide people and vehicles to move.
Local authorities recommend that people not arbitrarily enter locations at risk of landslides, especially when it rains or abnormal signs appear on the mountainside.
