At this time, in some mountainous districts of Bac Kan province, people are burning fields and clearing the ground to prepare for the new crop.
Worryingly, the burning of fields but lacking fire prevention measures and no one to guard them has caused many neighboring forest areas to face the risk of spreading fire and large fire.
According to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters in early April 2025, in some localities in Bac Kan city, Cho Moi district, Na Ri district, some households immediately burned the fields after clearing them.

At the scene, the fire was rising high, thick smoke rolled up on each column, covering an entire hillside. Many people quickly left the area after burning the fields, the fire gradually engulfed every hill.
Mr. Nong Van Ty (58 years old, Bac Kan city) shared that it is the dry season, so burning the fields without control is very likely to spread and cause great damage.
According to Mr. Ty, on March 22, in Na Di village, Duong Quang commune (Bac Kan city), a fire broke out in a field area near the forest.
"At first, it was just a few small pieces of fire, but when there was a strong wind, the fire quickly spread, burning down the fatty forest.
The habit of burning cocoons has existed for a long time, just a small mistake can lead to a fire, causing great damage to planted forests, property and even neighboring residential areas," Mr. Ty added.

Sharing the same sentiment, Ms. Luong Thi Net (51 years old, Na Ri district) also expressed concern when the situation of land burning occurred widely and uncontrollably.
"People burn fields mainly according to old experience, now people need to take measures to ensure safer food. If we keep it like this, the forest fire will cause great damage," she said.
Information from the Forest Protection Department of Region 1, during the week of March 25 - 31, the risk of forest fires in Bac Kan province is assessed at level III - high level.
In particular, Na Ri district is currently forecast to have forest fires at level 4, level of danger, high risk of forest fires.
The district forest protection force has developed a plan and propagated to people to do a good job of forest management and protection, especially forest fire prevention and fighting.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Thiem - Deputy Head of the Na Ri District Forest Protection Department, the whole district currently has nearly 68,000 hectares of forested land. Forest management and protection work is being implemented synchronously, especially during the peak of the dry season.
Currently, the district has established 17 commune-level Forest Fire Prevention and Fighting Command Committees, along with more than 200 forest fire prevention and fighting teams at the grassroots level.
"The forest rangers are on duty 24/7 according to the forest fire forecast level, ready to respond when situations arise, ready to participate in tasks when a forest fire occurs," the leader of the District Forest Protection Department shared more.
Since the beginning of the year, there have been 23 fires on forestry land in Bac Kan province. Of these, 13 fires mainly occurred in the area of weeds, carpets and fires under the forest canopy.
