unsafe dangers on the main route
It has been nearly a year since storm No. 3 (Yagi) caused a landslide at Km205+900, in Phuong Tien commune (formerly Tan Duong commune, Dinh Hoa district), the Ho Chi Minh road has not been repaired. This is a vital route connecting Phuong Tien commune and Cho Moi commune (Thai Nguyen), playing an important role in the trade, transportation of goods and travel of people.
According to Lao Dong Newspaper's reporter in mid-August 2025, after nearly a year, the landslide area has only been filled with soil, and there have been no construction items to reinforce the roadbed or embankment, posing many potential risks and risks to traffic safety.
At the scene, the fence was poorly reinforced, the reflective wires were damaged, and there was a lack of equipment, lighting systems and night lighting. The slope area is cracked, exposing a layer of loose rocks, some cracks create deep ditches, easily slippery when it rains.
Regularly traveling through this road, Mr. Nguyen Van Kien (Dinh Hoa commune) said that the damage has existed for a long time but there is no final solution to handle it.
Every time I pass through this section, I feel very uneasy, especially in the evening or when it rains, with limited visibility. There are no lights on both sides of the road, temporary fences, and many fences are damaged. If you are not careful, you can fall into the edge of the slope, which is very dangerous, Mr. Kien shared.
According to local people, on days of heavy rain, the temporary fill is prone to erosion, creating slippery ditches, making travel more difficult. Meanwhile, the system of poor warning, many damaged places do not ensure safety for traffic participants, especially at night or in bad weather. People hope that the authorities will soon deploy a plan to overcome and handle the reinforcement synchronously to limit the potential risk of accidents.

Finding a solution
Informing reporters, Ms. Nong Thi Phuong - Chairman of the People's Committee of Tan Duong commune (now Phuong Tien commune) - said that this route is currently managed by the Vietnam Road Administration and the landslide on the Ho Chi Minh route has not been completely handled and repaired.
The incident that occurred in September 2024 caused about 50m of road surface to be seriously eroded, part of the roadbed was eroded. At that time, the Road Management Office I.4 coordinated with local management units to implement measures such as placing warning signs, erecting barriers... to ensure temporary traffic safety.
However, due to the situation of degraded barriers and signs, no longer effective warning, local authorities have made recommendations to competent authorities to ensure the safety of the people. However, temporary reinforcement measures cannot ensure long-term safety, especially when storms can continue to cause landslides, directly threatening life and property and disrupting trade.
To completely overcome the above situation, there needs to be a synchronous solution such as reinforcing the roadbed, building an anti-landslide embankment, completing the drainage system and fully installing warning signs, signal lights and night lighting systems.
When the landslide has not been completely handled, the risk of traffic insecurity is still present and can turn this place into a "black spot" for accidents in the future.
