In recent days, people in the Southern area of Ho Chi Minh City have been excited when they heard that the city plans to spend nearly 10,000 billion VND to expand Le Van Luong street - the vital traffic axis connecting this area with Tay Ninh province.

Living in Hiep Phuoc commune, Mr. Nguyen Van Tai shared that the Le Van Luong road section through the area is currently very narrow, while the traffic volume is large, so it often falls into traffic jams during peak hours.

At many times, large vehicles circulate, occupying the entire road, causing danger to motorcyclists. Therefore, Mr. Tai hopes that if the road is soon invested in expansion, it will not only help people travel more conveniently and safely but also create breakthrough conditions for strong economic development between Ho Chi Minh City and Tay Ninh province.

According to Lao Dong's records, Le Van Luong street is currently interspersed between residential areas and many apartment buildings in the South of Ho Chi Minh City. With an existing road surface width of about 6m serving two lanes of traffic in the opposite direction, this route continuously experiences congestion during peak hours. The entire street axis extends from Nguyen Van Linh street to bordering DT826C street in Can Giuoc commune, Tay Ninh province.

Recently, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction said that it is organizing the preparation of a pre-feasibility study report for the project to upgrade and expand Le Van Luong street. This road has a total length of about 6.6km, and is expected to be expanded to a scale of 30m to 40m. The project has a total investment capital of about 9,881 billion VND, of which the cost for site clearance work accounts for about 6,546 billion VND and the cost of construction and installation is about 2,665 billion VND.

According to the roadmap, the project will be submitted to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council for consideration and approval of the investment policy at the meeting taking place in the third quarter of 2026. The project is expected to officially start construction in 2027 and be completed and put into operation in 2029.
Besides the narrow road surface, along Le Van Luong road through Ho Chi Minh City, there are still two seriously degraded iron bridges built more than 50 years ago, Rach Tom bridge and Rach Doi bridge. The narrow bridge surface size has long become a major traffic bottleneck for the area.

Currently, site clearance for dozens of houses on Le Van Luong street (section passing through Hiep Phuoc commune) is being implemented to construct the new Rach Tom bridge. This new bridge project is 174m long, 15m wide, arranged with 4 lanes with a total investment of 497 billion VND.

Before the overall project was implemented, the traffic infrastructure on this road has also been gradually improved through stages. Specifically, on November 28, 2024, Ho Chi Minh City built a new Rach Dia bridge and put it into operation with a total investment of more than 500 billion VND to replace the old bridge that has seriously deteriorated.

Previously, Long Kieng bridge located on Le Van Luong street was also newly built and completed and put into operation from September 8, 2023 to replace the old iron bridge, with a total investment of more than 580 billion VND.

Continuing to invest in synchronous expansion of the entire Le Van Luong road in the future is expected to significantly improve traffic connectivity capacity, opening up a new development space between the Southern area of Ho Chi Minh City and Tay Ninh province and neighboring localities.
