Striving to develop 200,000 union members

NGUYỄN TRƯỜNG |

Before the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress, Mr. Nguyen Hai Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Chairman of the Ninh Binh Provincial Labor Federation, expressed his expectation that the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress will propose strategic decisions, creating new momentum for the development of the Vietnam Trade Union organization in the new period.

Mr. Nguyen Hai Long - Chairman of Ninh Binh Provincial Labor Federation - said that the period 2023 - 2025 is a period of many fluctuations, directly affecting the production and business activities of enterprises and the lives of workers. However, with the leadership attention of Party committees and authorities and the efforts of trade union officials at all levels, the workers' movement and trade union activities have achieved many important and comprehensive results. The most prominent mark is that trade union levels have increasingly better performed the function of representing, caring for and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of workers.

In the 2026-2031 term, I hope the Central Government will continue to improve mechanisms and policies to enhance the representative role of trade unions; have more solutions on salaries, social housing, social welfare, vocational training and vocational conversion for workers. At the same time, there should be a mechanism to protect grassroots trade union officials so that they can feel secure in performing their duties" - Mr. Nguyen Hai Long expressed.

Regarding the Trade Union organization, Mr. Nguyen Hai Long said that it is necessary to continue to promote the implementation of a number of key contents, which are: Continuing to perform well the role of representing, protecting and caring for the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers, improving the quality of dialogue and collective bargaining. Focusing on developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions. Promoting digital transformation throughout the trade union system; effectively implementing the emulation movement "Good Labor, High Productivity, Good Income". Specifically for Ninh Binh province, we set a target to develop at least 200,000 more union members by 2030, striving to establish grassroots trade unions in 85% of eligible enterprises. At the same time, continue to build a modern, strong worker force with professional qualifications, skills and firm political bravery.

I believe that, with the nearly 100-year glorious tradition of the Vietnam Trade Union, along with the spirit of innovation, creativity and responsibility, the Trade Union organization will continue to be a reliable support for union members and workers. Thereby, contributing to building a modern and strong working class and making positive contributions to the goal of making Ninh Binh a centrally-run city by 2030" - Mr. Nguyen Hai Long assessed.
