Floodwaters rise too quickly
Due to the influence of storm No. 11, on the afternoon of October 8, floods on the Cau River continued to rise above alert level 3.
Floods are expected to continue to rise due to water flowing from upstream, with the risk of overflow at some locations on the left dike of Cau, through Hop Thinh commune.

According to the reporter's records, on the afternoon of October 8, Ninh Tao and Dong Dao villages (Hop Thinh commune) had many houses submerged in water, causing traffic disruption in some areas, making it difficult for people to access necessities and domestic water. People can only travel by boat.
According to local people, the water level of the Cau River this year is higher than at the time of the historic storm Yagi last year.

For more than 13 consecutive years, I have never seen such a fierce storm or flood this year. The water level of Cau River rose very quickly," said Mr. Vuong Van Ngu (in Dong Dao village, Hop Thinh commune, Bac Ninh province).
Mr. Nguyen Cong Toan - Director of a paper and stationery manufacturing company in Van Ha ward, Bac Ninh province - said that this year, the water level of the Cau river has fluctuated abnormally, causing great damage to machinery due to water entering. Many goods sank deeply, with preliminary damage estimated at about 2 billion VND.

"Although the local government has announced, because the water level rises too quickly and the number of people at the workshop is small, we cannot handle it," said Mr. Toan.
All night on the dike
According to the forecast, on the Thuong River, at Phu Lang Thuong station, it is forecasted that early tomorrow morning (October 9), the flood water will peak at 7.70m, higher than alert level 3 and likely about 18cm higher than the historical flood level.
On the Cau River, at Dap Cau station, the water level is forecast to peak at 7.40m early tomorrow morning, about 1.1m higher than alert level 3.
According to records, in the afternoon and evening of October 8, Bac Ninh province is urgently organizing dike protection work to ensure the safety of dykes and dams.

On the left dike of Cau, through Hop Thinh commune, in the face of an urgent situation, officers and soldiers of the 675 Artillery Brigade (Artillery Command) were present in time with the People, police, and militia to focus on reinforcing and raising the dike surface.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Khuong - Deputy Brigade Commander of the 675th Artillery Brigade - said: Upon receiving information from the locality about the need to increase forces to build dykes to prevent overflow, the unit quickly mobilized officers and soldiers to the field.
"We divided into groups, bringing tools to coordinate with the locality to urgently build the dike," said Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Khuong.

On the evening of October 8, nearly 2,000 people including the Army, Police, Militia and people of all walks of life gathered to build sand to prevent the dike from overflowing at Dau Han dike, Kinh Bac ward.
