Due to the impact of storm No. 5 (KaKi), from the afternoon of August 25 to 2:00 p.m. on August 26, heavy to very heavy rain occurred in Phu Tho province. The water flow into the Canh Tang reservoir increased, exceeding the overflow threshold at the floodgates (79.75 m).
Before the forecast of continued rising water, Hoa Binh Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited (Phu Tho province) has notified the People's Committees of Yen Phu and Lac Son communes about releasing floodwaters from Canh Tang lake to ensure the safety of the project as well as the lives and property of people in the downstream area.
The exploitation unit requested local authorities and people along rivers, streams, and downstream areas of Canh Tang Lake to urgently deploy response measures, proactively evacuate people and property from dangerous areas to minimize risks.
