More than 11,000 houses of gratitude are built and repaired

The emulation movement to join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide in 2025 launched by the Prime Minister has become an important highlight in social security work. The goal of the movement is to ensure safe and stable housing for poor households, near-poor households and people affected by natural disasters and climate change, in the spirit of Resolution No. 42 of the 8th Central Conference of the 13th tenure.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hue Chi - Member of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City said that, responding to the call of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, under the direction of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committees, City Party Committees, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees of Can Tho City, Soc Trang and Hau Giang provinces have developed specific plans, advised on organizing the launching ceremony, calling on all classes of people, socio-political organizations, religious organizations, business communities and overseas Vietnamese to actively respond. As a result, the 3 units completed the set target on time when Can Tho City merged with Soc Trang and Hau Giang, becoming a new driving force center of the Mekong Delta.

In the 2024-2025 period, Can Tho City has 11,462 temporary and dilapidated houses built and repaired. Of which, Can Tho City (old) has completed 1,066 houses, worth nearly 62 billion VND; Hau Giang province (old) has completed 1,479 houses, worth 63 billion VND and Soc Trang province (old) has completed 8,917 houses, worth 463 billion VND. In the 2020-2025 period, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of 3 provinces and cities mobilized social security resources to reach over VND5,000 billion; the Fund for the Poor mobilized over VND2,400 billion. From this resource, more than 15,000 Great Solidarity houses have been built and repaired for poor households, near-poor households and those with housing difficulties.

The Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City affirmed that these figures not only reflect the scale and effectiveness of the program, but also demonstrate the strength of solidarity and the cooperation of the entire political system, business community and people.Tens of thousands of households have new, spacious and safe shelters, creating conditions for them to stabilize their lives, work with peace of mind in production, take care of their families and actively contribute to the community.
Organize systematic and synchronous implementation from the grassroots

The Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City said that to achieve the above results, the implementation work has been strictly implemented from the stage of reviewing subjects to organizing house construction. First of all, it is necessary to collect statistics and survey each household, consider actual conditions and specific wishes to ensure support for the right people, the right needs, avoid missing or overlapping. Propaganda work is carried out regularly, through the system of the Front, local governments, unions and press channels, helping to spread the meaning of the program and create widespread response in the community.

The Front at all levels has also mobilized social resources, mobilized businesses, religious organizations and people to join hands to contribute to the Fund for the Poor. During the construction process, monitoring teams from the province to the facility monitored the selection of contractors, material quality, construction progress to acceptance and handover. Thanks to the close attention of the Party Committee, government and the Front, each completed house is of guaranteed quality, creating trust and excitement for the people.

With continuous efforts and a high sense of responsibility for the poor, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees of Can Tho City and Soc Trang Province and individuals have been awarded certificates of merit by the Prime Minister for their outstanding achievements in the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.

Towards supporting livelihoods and sustainable poverty reduction

The Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City said that in addition to the achievements, there are still many difficulties and challenges that need to be addressed. The number of poor households, near-poor households and families in especially difficult circumstances still exists. Therefore, the Front system continues to effectively promote campaigns and patriotic emulation movements, increase propaganda and mobilize social resources to practically care for the poor and disadvantaged.

At the same time, it is necessary to improve the quality of supervision and social criticism, ensuring that support policies are implemented to the right people and at the right times. Not only supporting housing, orienting livelihoods, supporting people to access digital transformation and applying advanced production models is also extremely important, to help them stabilize and improve their quality of life.
