Lao Cai - The authorities detonated a bomb weighing about 300kg discovered by local residents.

On the afternoon of October 9, speaking with reporters, Mr. Le Thanh Hung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Cuong commune, Lao Cai province, said that the authorities are coordinating with functional units to detonate a bomb weighing about 300kg.

According to Mr. Hung, at the end of September, people in San Bay village, Dong Cuong commune, who were working as barbers discovered a bomb about 1.2m long, weighing about 300kg, so they reported it to the local authorities.

"Due to the impact of the recent flood, the authorities have not been able to bring the bomb for handling. It was not until this afternoon that we started sending the bomb for detonation. The blasting location is about 4km from the commune center, away from residential areas," Mr. Hung informed.
