On the afternoon of May 19, Mr. Nguyen Khac Trung - Director of the North - South Expressway Project Management Board, Ham Nghi - Vung Ang section - said that he had received information about the traffic accident that occurred on the afternoon of May 18 between a truck and a car, causing 4 people on the car to be hospitalized for emergency care.
That was the second traffic accident that occurred at the intersection between National Highway 8C and the access road to the highway in Cam Quan commune, Cam Xuyen district.

Mr. Trung said that after putting into operation the Bai Vot - Ham Nghi and Ham Nghi - Vung Ang expressways (from April 28), the unit has received recommendations from local people and authorities about potential traffic safety problems at the intersection between National Highway 8C and the access road to the expressway in Cam Quan commune.
"We have also put up signs limiting speed, but due to the habit of not having a access road to the highway before, people still run very fast when traveling on National Highway 8C.
In this situation, we have purchased materials to plan to install a traffic pole in the middle from tomorrow so that drivers are forced to limit speed. In addition, we also recommend that traffic police be on duty, patrol, and control at this point for a period of time so that people comply with speed limitations to ensure safety when passing through this location," Mr. Trung shared.
Regarding the issue of installing traffic lights here, Mr. Trung said that installing traffic lights depends on the conditions and regulations. This, when handed over to the road management unit, they will continue to research and decide.

Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper reported on potential traffic safety problems at the intersection between National Highway 8C and the access road to the expressway in Cam Quan commune.
Although concerns, warnings, and recommendations have been reported early to authorities and investors, while waiting for authorities to implement safety solutions, serious traffic accidents continue to occur.
