Since the beginning of the year, natural disasters have continuously affected agricultural production activities. According to data from the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention, in the recent flood alone, more than 52,058 hectares of rice, crops, and 39,034 hectares of other crops were damaged.
Speaking with Lao Dong, a representative of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) said that the department has continuously directed localities to urgently restore production after the storm. "The Department has issued a document directing the urgent implementation of measures to overcome the consequences of the storm, both saving areas that are still available for harvest and preparing early for the new production crop," said a representative of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection.

For the vegetable group, the department recommends that localities instruct farmers to quickly harvest areas that can still be harvested. In areas that were slightly affected, trees were rebuilt, fallen floors, and cracks were broken to prevent air vents and continued care. Completely damaged areas need to clear remnants and clean the fields to start the new crop, prioritizing short-term vegetable varieties to serve the increased demand for green vegetables after the storm.
For fruit trees and perennial industrial crops, it is necessary to urgently dig ditches, clear the flow, pump water out of the holes and gardens for flooded gardens. The garden has drained water and needs to focus on digging lightly, breaking the soil layer to help the soil become clear, overcome damage and regenerate new roots.
For fruit gardens that are bearing young fruit or developing fruit, technical staff recommend adding leaf fertilizers containing triangles such as Fe, Bo, Ca, Cu, Zn... to reduce the risk of cracking and dropping fruit in large numbers after heavy rain, while helping the trees recover quickly, ensuring productivity for the next crop. Only when the root system has recovered, should people fertilize more organic fertilizers combined with fertilizers, avoiding overusing chemical fertilizers at the stage when the plants are still weak.
