On November 27, the People's Committee of Cam Hieu commune (Cam Lo district, Quang Tri province) confirmed that for the past week, a monkey has appeared in Nam Hieu village, bordering Cam Lo town (Cam Lo district).
The monkey, weighing about 8kg to 10kg, was discovered on November 21 and often appears in people's gardens. This monkey often destroys people's property in the area and eats fruit.
Mr. Tran Thanh Hoai - Vice Chairman of Cam Hieu Commune People's Committee said that this monkey is a rare animal, belonging to group IIB, appendix II CITES.
To avoid being attacked by monkeys, Cam Hieu Commune People's Committee has warned people not to come into contact with the monkey. The locality will report to the relevant authorities to find a way to deal with the monkey.
It is known that in Cam Lo district, many monkeys appeared in residential areas and destroyed property. After that, the authorities arrested them and released them back into the wild.
