Lang Son Provincial People's Committee has just agreed in principle to implement a project to treat environmental pollution at Phai Loan Lake and Nhi Thanh Cave, Tam Thanh ward.
About 750 million VND from the state budget will be used for surveying, designing and estimating construction costs. The construction and equipment installation costs of the project use socialized sources.
The project is being implemented in the context of Phai Loan Lake being repeatedly re-polluted. In recent years, the lake surface has appeared green, white, mixed with garbage and smelly on hot sunny days.
People living around the area said that after each cleanup, the water surface is only clean for a few days and then scum continues to appear. This situation once occurred in April and May 2025.
At that time, functional units organized two phases of sucking nearly 20 m3 of scum and garbage, and at the same time maintained periodic salvage twice a month.
However, the main measures to treat floating waste on the water surface have not overcome the recurring pollution situation.
Previously, Mr. Hoang Quoc Khanh, Secretary of Lang Son Provincial Party Committee, led a working delegation to inspect many key projects and works, including the plan to take water to improve the environment of Phai Loan Lake.
After on-site inspection, Mr. Khanh directed to choose the option of taking water from the Ky Cung River, leading along Pho Muoi road to Le Hong Phong road, directly supplementing to Phai Loan lake.
The water source is then regulated to Ngoc Tuyen stream, creating a connecting flow in the Phai Loan lake - Ngoc Tuyen stream - Nhi Thanh cave system.
According to the Secretary of Lang Son Provincial Party Committee, the renovation of Phai Loan Lake cannot only rely on a single technical solution, but needs to be placed in the overall ecological restoration, forming a green space, culture and unique tourism in the central area of the province.
Waste collection, control and wastewater treatment must also be implemented synchronously to limit recurrence of pollution and restore the landscape at key tourist areas.
The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Construction to urgently complete investment preparation procedures; guide and inspect construction solutions, technical standards and project quality during the sponsor's implementation process.
The Department of Finance is responsible for advising on allocating funds and completing it before August 15. After the project is completed, Tam Thanh Ward People's Committee will receive the assets and develop a plan for management, operation, maintenance and repair.
