Lang Son Provincial People's Committee has just proposed to the Ministry of Construction to consider adding the location of the dry port in Huu Lung area to the planning for the development of the dry port system for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, in order to meet logistics needs for the southern industrial region of the province.
According to the Provincial People's Committee, the inland port system in the area is currently mainly concentrated in the border gate area and international transport corridor.
Meanwhile, the south of the province, especially the Huu Lung area, is being oriented to develop into an industrial - urban - service center with many large industrial parks.
This area includes VSIP Lang Son Industrial Park with an area of about 599.76 ha, Huu Lung Industrial - Urban - Service Park with about 4,900 ha, Hoa Lac Industrial Park with about 223.7 ha.
The total land area of the industrial park is expected to be about 2,519 ha. Huu Lung also has the advantage of connecting with the Bac Giang - Chi Lang expressway and the Hanoi - Lang Son international intermodal railway line.
Lang Son province believes that the addition of a dry port in Huu Lung is necessary to prepare logistics infrastructure to serve industrial development according to the plan.
Thereby, forming a commodity transshipment hub for the Southern region, while reducing pressure on the logistics system of the border gate area.
The proposed location is located in the planning area of Huu Lung Industrial - Urban - Service Zone, with a scale of about 153.4 ha.
This is oriented to be a general dry port, serving transshipment and container cargo collection for the southern area of the province. Connection infrastructure includes the Bac Giang - Chi Lang expressway, National Highway 1 and the Hanoi - Dong Dang railway line.
According to Lang Son Provincial People's Committee, this location has favorable traffic conditions, ensures land fund, is suitable for the province's spatial development orientation and basically meets the conditions according to current regulations.
From there, the province proposed that the Ministry of Construction summarize and report to the Prime Minister to consider adding the location of Huu Lung shallow port to the plan, and at the same time guide the next procedures.
Currently, Lang Son has a number of shallow port locations in the plan such as Yen Trach, Tan Thanh, Na Duong; in addition, the province is also coordinating to review dossiers to study and supplement Dong Dang shallow port into the national shallow port system development plan.
