The Project to deal with landslides on Provincial Road 158, A Mu Sung - A Lu section, was approved by Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee under Decision No. 1219/QD-UBND dated April 21, 2025.
This is a Group C project with a total investment of 70 billion VND, invested by the Lao Cai Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board.
According to the investigation of Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, the Lao Cai Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board has just announced the invitation for bidding for Package No. 12: Construction of the project (including traffic assurance costs).
Package 12 was widely auctioned online, priced at more than 53.7 billion VND from the central budget and the provincial budget. The package implementation period is 540 days.

According to the project dossier that the reporter exploited at the National Bidding Network, Package No. 12 will handle the landslide of provincial road 158 (section from Km0+00 - Km5+00, section Km28+00 - Km40+950 in A Mu Sung commune and Y Ty commune, Lao Cai province (old Bat Xat district).
Section from Km0+00 - Km5+00, starting point of route Km0+00 (intersection with National Highway 4E at the intersection at the three-way turn to Lung Po flagpole); end point of route at Km5+00/DT.158.
With this section, it will be designed to be upgraded and renovated according to the standards of a grade V mountainous road, with a design speed of 30km/h; roadbed width of 6.5m, road surface width of 3.5m, and reinforced sidewalks on each side of 1.5m.
Along with that, in the negative slopes, there are traffic safety systems and auxiliary works (ters, signs, Km pillars...) designed to widen the embankment to a minimum of 0.5m.
This section will also construct items: Intersection, level crossings, turnpick; drainage system; protective works; traffic safety system.
The section Km28+00 - Km40+950 will handle landslides on positive and negative slopes due to the impact of Typhoon No. 3 Yagi (2024), the main handling scale includes: route elevation, construction of a cement concrete retaining wall system or stone cages. Restore the road surface according to the current road structure, vertical drainage ditches, traffic safety.
At the same time, this section will be treated with weak, sunken soil at 3 locations including Km38+430.25, Km38+590.54, Km39+144.48. Replacing weak soil combined with reinforcing the roadbed with asphalt-backed stone cages, returning the structure of the shirt according to the current structure suitable for each location.
In addition, the section Km28+00 - Km40+950 will repair cross-water drainage culverts; repair and supplement traffic safety systems, protective railings, paint road markings, speed-reducing edges, guardrails, signs, markers, km poles, etc.
