Hundreds of hectares of green vegetables damaged
In recent days, prolonged heavy rains combined with flood discharge from hydroelectric reservoirs have caused flooding and damage to many residential areas and vegetable growing areas of Lam Dong people.
According to preliminary statistics from the authorities, as of November 22, the locality had about 3,000 hectares of crops, mainly vegetables and flowers of all kinds damaged.

In particular, some areas specializing in green vegetable production were severely damaged such as D'ran commune about 300 hectares; Ka Do commune over 150 hectares; Quang Lap commune over 150 hectares and Quang Phu commune about 50 hectares.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhung, a resident of D'ran commune, said that her family has 1ha next to the Da Nhim river to serve cabbage production. In the recent rainy and flood days, the vegetable garden near the harvest date was completely submerged in water, losing everything.
According to the leader of the People's Committee of D'ran commune, floods have caused severe economic damage to the people. In particular, the vegetable growing area serving the market was severely damaged by floods.

"After this flood, local people need a lot of time to restore production. Many gardens are eroded or have garbage, so farmers will have to spend many months improving the soil," added the leader of D'ran commune.
Meanwhile, in Hiep Thanh commune, the authorities recorded hundreds of hectares of vegetables and flowers damaged by floods in late October and early November. To meet market demand, when the water receded, the people of this commune immediately started to improve the land and produce.

Mr. Vo Tien Huy, Director of Tien Huy Cooperative, in Hiep Thanh commune, said that the cooperative cooperates with people to produce many types of vegetables and tubers on an area of nearly 40 hectares.
Floods in recent days have damaged many gardens, leading to a 30% reduction in output supplied to the market. Currently, for flooded land, cooperative members are renovating to soon restore production.
According to the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection of Lam Dong province, in 2025, the locality plans to plant 92,000 hectares of vegetables and has so far planted 90.572 hectares, with an output of about 2.6 million tons.
Green vegetables continue to increase in price
Mr. Ha Ngoc Chien, Head of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection of Lam Dong province, informed that the remaining harvest area of the locality is more than 9,000 hectares, with an estimated output of over 300,000 tons.
During the recent flood, we initially recorded 3,000 hectares of damaged vegetables, with an estimated output of about 90,000 tons. This partly affects the market supply at this time, not affecting the market before, during and after Tet because the Tet vegetables are planted in late November and early December".

According to the Lam Dong Province Agricultural Extension Center, from November 11 to now, due to the impact of floods, affected supply, and strong market demand, the prices of many types of vegetables, tubers, and fruits have increased compared to early November.
Of which, chilli is currently priced at VND40,000/kg, up VND18,000/kg; bean sprouts at VND27,000/kg, up VND11,000/kg; tomatoes at VND30,000/kg, up VND10,000/kg; bell peppers at VND45,000-48,000/kg, up VND7,000 - VND8,000/kg; coron lettuce at VND28,000/kg, up VND6,000/kg.

Meanwhile, at retail markets, spinach is priced at 75,000 VND/kg, up 35,000 VND/kg; broccoli is 60,000 VND/kg, up 20,000 VND/kg. Herbs are priced from 60 - 80,000 VND/kg, an increase of 30,000 VND/kg.
As for vegetables priced at batil lettuce, fatty lettuce... which are now scarce, the selling price has increased by 50 - 55,000 VND/kg, an increase of 25,000 VND compared to the beginning of November.
