Floods on Tra Khuc River Quang Ngai exceed alert level 3, many residential areas were deeply flooded

Quang Ngai - Floods on Tra Khuc River rose rapidly beyond alert level 3, causing deep flooding in many residential areas in Quang Ngai.

Recorded at Lien Hiep 1A Residential Group, Truong Quang Trong Ward, Quang Ngai Province, floodwaters flooded into residential areas located next to Tra Khuc River.

Talking to reporters, Mr. Ngo Quang Diep, residing in Residential Group 1A, Truong Quang Trong Ward, said: at around 11 noon today, floodwaters began to flood into people's houses. Because the water rose so quickly, by more than 13 hours, the water level had risen to more than 1m, making it very difficult for the family to move their belongings.

"The water rose so quickly that I was very scared, now I have to go to a relative's house to make ends meet, I don't dare to stay home tonight," Mr. Diep confided.

On the afternoon of October 29, Mr. Nguyen Van Huy - Director of the Quang Ngai Provincial Hydrometeorological Station - said that the flood on rivers in the province is currently fluctuating at a high level. Tra Bong River at Chau Station -: 5.04 m, above alert level 3 by 0.54 m.

Tra Khuc River at Son Giang station: 39.20 m, above alert level 3 by 1.20 m; at Tra Khuc station: 7.77 m, above alert level 3 by 1.27 m.

According to Mr. Huy, from the evening of October 29 to the morning of October 30, the communes and wards of Eastern Truong Son and Northwestern Truong Son will have heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms, with rainfall likely to reach 50150 mm, some places over 200 mm.

The remaining communes and wards will have moderate to heavy rain, with rainfall expected to reach 1040 mm, some places over 50 mm.

From October 30, heavy rain will tend to decrease and end this period of rain.
