Accelerating the progress of the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway project
During a working trip to the Mekong Delta on December 28, 2025, Politburo Member, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh inspected the construction progress of the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway project through Long Hung commune (Can Tho City). The Prime Minister affirmed that the sooner the project is completed, the more economical it is, helping the locality soon exploit economic advantages and create new development space. The Prime Minister requested the project to be technically opened to traffic on June 30, 2026.
Therefore, during the 2026 New Year holiday, the construction atmosphere of the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway project took place bustlingly. With a total investment of more than 44,000 billion VND, this national key project was simultaneously deployed by contractors with many construction teams throughout the route. At many locations, workers focused on completing roadbeds, treating weak soil, and constructing sluice and bridge systems.
Mr. Le Dinh Duy - construction officer in charge of Construction Service and Trading Joint Stock Company 68 - said that the unit is constructing 2.7km of roads and bridges in Can Tho City, with a construction volume of about 50%. To ensure progress, the contractor has supplemented equipment, organized overtime, worked during holidays and Tet, and made efforts to overcome difficulties in weather and ground conditions.
According to Mr. Duy, in addition to speeding up progress, the unit pays special attention to caring for the lives of workers. During the holidays, workers working throughout Tet are provided with adequate accommodation, ensuring salary and allowances according to regulations, and at the same time supporting additional costs and bonuses to encourage morale. Reasonable shift sharing helps workers have time to rest, ensure health and labor safety.
At the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway section through An Giang province, reporters' records show that although it was technically opened to traffic on December 19, 2025, the construction atmosphere on the construction site was still urgent. The sound of excavators, bulldozers, and rollers operating non-stop; dump trucks lined up to carry soil to build the roadbed. At the bridge and culvert construction points, workers continued to process steel reinforcement and install molds to complete the remaining items.
Mr. Hoang Quoc Viet, a bulldozer operator, said that working night shifts is more difficult than day shifts, requiring high concentration to ensure safety. "This is a large national project, so everyone is trying. On New Year's Day, I also want to go home to my wife and children, but the construction site is in need of people. The family understands and encourages me, so I can rest assured to work" - Mr. Viet said.
According to Captain Tran Minh Thanh - Deputy Director of the Steering Committee of Truong Son 11 (Brigade 12), currently on the section passing through An Giang, there are about 200 officials, engineers, and workers mobilized, organizing continuous construction in 3 shifts, 4 teams. This New Year's Day, the entire force continues to stick to the construction site. The unit also arranges stable accommodation, ensuring meals, salary regimes and extra working allowances on holidays for workers.
Urgent atmosphere at the Hanoi Ring Road 4 project
The Hanoi Ring Road 4 project is about 59.2km long, passing through 17 wards and communes with a total recovered land area of 800.15ha and 9,039 graves that need to be moved.
Up to now, after 3 years and 2 months of implementation, wards and communes have completed the construction of 13/13 resettlement areas, completed land acquisition, site clearance, tomb relocation, and relocation of underground and above-ground works to ensure progress.

Package No. 9 - construction of the Ring Road 4 parallel road has a total length of more than 20km, undertaken by Vietnam Import-Export and Construction Joint Stock Corporation (Vinaconex) contractor.
This is the largest bidding package for the Ring Road 4 parallel road in the Capital region section passing through Hanoi.
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hai - Commander of package No. 9 - said that at the end of December 2025, localities have handed over the entire remaining land area to the contractor.
Time is running out, the contractor encourages engineers and workers to stick to the project site during the New Year holiday. Everyone unanimously puts aside the holiday and shares the determination to accelerate the project progress" - Mr. Hai said.
Up to now, the bidding package constructed by Vinaconex has reached about more than 80% of the workload. The contractor is committed to completing the bidding package in June 2026 according to the direction of Hanoi City.
At package No. 8, a representative of Truong Son Corporation said that up to this point, the contractor has completed about over 90% of the construction volume.
The section about 13km long is expected to be basically completed before the Lunar New Year, exceeding the set schedule.
Similarly, package No. 10 and package No. 11 are also being implemented simultaneously by contractors with many construction teams, ensuring the project progress.
Regarding the construction progress of the Ring Road 4 parallel road through Hanoi City, the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board said that about 35/53km of asphalt concrete has been constructed.
To date, output has reached about 3,575/4,205 billion VND (about 85%), basically completing the entire parallel road in the second quarter of 2026.
For component project 3 - investing in the construction of the expressway according to the public-private partnership (PPP) method, investors are focusing on organizing the construction of main items, including Hong Ha, Me So, Hoai Thuong bridges and elevated bridge sections on the route. Construction units strive to open the project to traffic before the opening day of the APEC Conference in 2027.
Construction of "3 shifts, 4 crews" of Ring Road 3 HCMC project
In the first days of the year, the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project is entering the acceleration phase. Mr. Le Ngoc Hung - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board - said that contractors organize "3 shifts, 4 teams" construction, mobilizing maximum manpower and equipment with a determined spirit. According to the plan, the 14.7km elevated Ring Road 3 section from the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway to Tan Van intersection will officially open to traffic on April 30, 2026.
At the same time, the sections through Tay Ninh, nearly 7km long, and the section through Dong Nai, more than 11km long (which have been technically opened to traffic since December 19, 2025), will officially open to traffic on April 30, 2026. The entire Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3, 76.3km long, will be completed synchronously on June 30, 2026. When put into operation, Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 will form a strategic connecting axis between Ho Chi Minh City and provinces in the southern key economic region, contributing to reducing inner-city traffic pressure, shortening freight transportation time, and opening up a modern urban - industrial development corridor, creating new growth momentum for the entire region.
To keep up with the schedule, during the New Year holidays, the working atmosphere at the construction site of Ring Road 3 in Ho Chi Minh City is still urgent. On nearly 15km of elevated road connecting from the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway intersection to Tan Van intersection, hundreds of workers and engineers are working hard day and night to accelerate the progress of the key project of the Southern economic region.
The elevated section passing through the East of Ho Chi Minh City is entering the phase of asphalting the road surface. The project is designed with 4 lanes, a width of 21.5m in sections with emergency stopping lanes and 19.5m in ordinary sections.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh (road surface construction worker) shared: "This year I did not return to my hometown for the New Year holiday, staying at the construction site to work with my brothers. Everyone determined that this is a key project, so I tried to work through the holidays to keep up with the schedule. It's a bit more difficult, but thinking about the road being completed soon, convenient for people to travel, I think it's very worthwhile.
Mr. Tran Minh Tuan (engine operator) said: "Working during Tet, I really miss home, but the brothers encourage each other to try. The contractor is also interested, arranging reasonable shifts, eating and drinking fully. We hope the project will be completed on schedule, which is also the pride of the person directly constructing".
Representatives of the contractor said that there are currently about 500 - 600 workers and engineers working in shifts, maintaining construction throughout holidays and Tet. In parallel with the elevated road section, parallel roads and bridges are also being deployed synchronously.
At the intersection of Ring Road 3 with the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, the end point of the elevated section, the bridge spans have been connected seamlessly. Currently, the contractor is focusing on constructing branches leading down to the expressway and connecting Nhon Trach bridge.
At Tan Van intersection - the largest intersection on the entire route, the elevated road and access bridge branches are also being promoted for construction. The intersection has a 3-story design, including 5 bridge branches, connecting Hanoi Highway, Metro line No. 1, Nguyen Xien street and DT 743A. This is the border area between Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai, where many port clusters are concentrated, and the traffic density is very high.
