From dirt roads, small winding roads between mountains and hills to concrete roads connecting villages, the appearance of rural transport in Lao Cai is gradually changing.
Recorded at the beginning of September in Bat Xat commune, many rural traffic routes are being deployed, including the route from Van Ho village to Trung Ho village, Lao Vang road to Ban Giang village, Lao Vang road to Khu Tru...

A noteworthy point in the road opening process is the consensus of the people. In areas where the route passes through, many households actively coordinate to clear ground, donate land, and contribute efforts with the State.
At the project inspection on September 4, Chairman of Bat Xat Commune People's Committee Nguyen Manh Hung requested agencies, units and construction teams to determine the progress, quality and efficiency of the project as a common responsibility.
At the same time, proactively handle difficulties arising right at the grassroots level. Roads must be constructed practically, in accordance with technical requirements, ensuring quality to soon promote investment efficiency.
The story of joining forces to build roads is also clearly shown in Hop Thanh commune. In 2026, the locality will deploy 6 traffic projects with a total length of about 2,501m in Cang, Peng 1, Peng and Lang Moi villages.
The works are built with cement concrete, the road surface is 2-3m wide. Before implementation, the villages organize People's meetings to agree on policies, scale and resources mobilization plans.
By July 2026, the commune had completed 2,025m, reaching over 80% of the plan.

The total estimated investment is about 2.19 billion VND, of which the State budget is expected to support 1.618 billion VND; people contribute 2,288 working days, equivalent to about 572 million VND.
In Coc village (Hop Thanh commune), that joint effort also creates a road with a unique mark of the community. The 300m long landscape road was contributed by 160 households with more than 20 million VND and working days to renovate.
On September 10, informing reporters, Mr. Lo Van Nam, a resident of Hop Thanh commune, said that the new rural traffic road invested will make people's travel much more convenient, especially in the rainy season.
With a new road, people travel less hard, and trucks carrying agricultural products can also get there. Children going to school, people going for medical examination and treatment or trading goods are more convenient. If the road is good, people's business and economic development will also be prosperous," Mr. Nam shared.

In Bac Ha commune, 6 rural transport projects with a total length of more than 27km, costing about 25 billion VND, are being implemented during the 30-day peak period of building rural transport roads.
For the Phec Bung village road, 1.7km long, the estimated cost is 4.7 billion VND. People are identified as the subjects, participating by working days, donating land, architectural structures and other legal resources.
Meanwhile, Coc San commune is managing more than 70km of rural roads, with a hardening rate of over 80%.
The locality sets a target to invest in new and upgrade nearly 30km on 14 routes by 2030, bringing the rate of roads invested and completed to over 95%; in 2026 alone, striving to build more than 10km of roads.

New roads are gradually connecting residential areas, production areas and markets.
From state investment resources to the joint efforts of the people, rural transport is becoming one of the important foundations for Lao Cai to expand its development space.
