Previously, at about 2 pm on July 9, ship HP-4914 encountered an accident in the sea area near Ban Sen, Van Don special zone, Quang Ninh province.
At this time, the ship was transporting sand from Minh Chau island to Hai Phong when it collided with a rocky islet and capsized.
At the time of the incident, there were 5 people on board.
Immediately after receiving the news, the Van Don Special Zone People's Committee and functional forces mobilized personnel and vehicles to deploy search and rescue operations.
Three people were rescued and taken to Van Don Regional General Hospital for care and treatment.
By 5 pm on July 9, the search force discovered another victim who had died. There is still one missing person.
By 8 pm on the same day, due to unfavorable weather conditions, functional forces temporarily stopped search operations.
From 6:30 am on July 10, search work was resumed.
To expand the search scope, Van Don Special Zone People's Committee has issued a notice requesting fishing boats, transport ships, tourist boats and waterway vehicles when passing through Ban Sen sea area and surrounding areas to increase observation.
Request businesses, cooperatives, aquaculture households, fishing trade unions, vehicle owners and fishermen operating at sea to coordinate in searching when weather conditions permit.
