On the morning of September 22, according to the forecast of Gia Lai Provincial Hydrometeorological Station, from the early morning of September 22 to September 24, the eastern area of the province will have moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms, common rainfall of 50-120mm, in some places over 150mm.
The western area of the province has showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain, common rainfall of 20-40mm, in some places over 50mm. The meteorological agency warns of the risk of heavy rain in a short time.
From early morning on September 24 to 25, the eastern region will continue to have rain in many places, with moderate to heavy rain in some places, common rainfall of 40-70mm, in some places over 100mm.
Heavy rain is likely to cause flooding in low-lying areas and increase the risk of landslides in areas with steep terrain and weak geological foundations. Thunderstorms accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, and strong winds can cause roofs to be blown off, trees to be broken, and affect people and livestock.
Faced with the above situation, on the evening of September 21, the Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee issued Official Dispatch No. 02, requesting the army, police, departments, branches, and localities to proactively respond to floods and storms, minimizing damage to people and property.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested units and localities to absolutely not be negligent or subjective; closely monitor the developments of rain, floods, inundation, flash floods, and landslides; proactively develop response plans according to the "4 on-the-spot" motto, not to be passive or surprised.
People's Committees of communes and wards urgently review residential areas along rivers, streams, low-lying areas and areas at risk of deep flooding, division, flash floods, landslides; proactively evacuate people from dangerous areas, prioritizing the elderly, children and vulnerable groups.
Arrange forces to be on duty at underground, spillways, deeply flooded roads, fast-flowing water and areas at risk of landslides; resolutely prevent people and vehicles from passing by when not ensuring safety. Rescue and relief forces and vehicles and lifebuoys must be arranged in areas that are frequently deeply flooded and cut off.
For places where damage has occurred, urgently support people to overcome the consequences, stabilize their lives, and restore production; and fully statistics damage to handle or propose support according to regulations.
The province requests to inspect the safety of reservoirs, dams, irrigation works, hydropower and downstream areas; monitor water levels, inflow to reservoirs, operate safe regulation and promptly provide information when operating flood regulation and discharge.
The Provincial Military Command and Provincial Police arrange forces and vehicles in key areas, ready to evacuate people, rescue, and ensure traffic.
