In the first days of the year of the Snake, the entire Dong Tam resettlement area, Yen Lap village, Yen Thanh commune (Quang Binh district) was filled with laughter. Although every house was still in disarray, joy shone in the eyes of everyone from the elderly to the young.
Looking at the national flag fluttering in front of his house, Mr. Vang Seo Cu (Yen Lap village) could not contain his joy: "The family is very happy, without the State's support to relocate and build a new house, where would we live this Tet? From now on, life is less worried about landslides, we can rest assured to do business."
During the flood in September 2024, Mr. Cu's house along with 36 other households in Yen Lap village were swept away by floodwaters and are located in an area at high risk of landslides, threatening life and property.

To stabilize people's lives, Dong Tam resettlement area was built at the end of October 2024 and handed over to households before the Lunar New Year of At Ty so that people could stabilize their lives.
According to Mr. Phan Van Canh - Head of Dong Tam village, this is the first spring for the households after moving to the new place. This place is safer, the infrastructure is invested synchronously with electricity, water, roads and full utilities.
"Right in these first days of spring, villagers have told each other to immediately start working and producing. Some people transport and install equipment, others go to the fields to plow and plant crops to have a prosperous life," said Mr. Canh.
Dong Tam resettlement area has a total planning area of 21,000 m2 with 37 solid houses, synchronous technical infrastructure, grid electricity and clean water source to accommodate more than 200 people.
With a total budget of nearly 20 billion VND, including support from the State and great contributions from the community, more than 3,500 working days were contributed by local people to build each house.

Green roofs of hope and new vitality have lit up the future and hope for a bright life for our people with the care and attention of the Party and State.
Informing reporters, Mr. Dao Quang Hieu - acting Secretary of Quang Binh District Party Committee - said that most of the people in the resettlement area still have many difficulties. When the natural disaster occurred, most of their assets were gone.
"The district continues to integrate target programs, while calling for social support to support people in resettlement areas to have conditions for production and stabilize their lives in their new homes," Mr. Hieu shared.
