As of 8:00 a.m. on November 22, 2025, according to an update from Vietnam Electricity Group, Hoa Binh Lake recorded upstream water levels at elevation of 116.41m; water flow to the lake reached 704m3/s; total discharge was 1,268m3/s. Currently, Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant has closed all floodgates, only operating power generation through generators.
Previously, implementing the Inter-reservoir operation process on the Red River basin, Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant opened a bottom spillway through the spillway at 2:00 p.m. on November 20, 2025 to regulate the lake water level.
At Tuyen Quang Lake, by 7:00 a.m. on November 22, the upstream water level reached 119.36 m; the water flow to the lake reached 273 m3/s; the total discharge was 376.42 m3/s.

As of 8:00 a.m. on November 22, Son La Lake recorded upstream water levels at 215.72 m; water flow to the lake was 1,514 m3/s; total discharge was 1,314 m3/s. Currently, the unit has closed all bottom spillways, only maintaining power generation through generators to regulate the flow downstream.
Previously, implementing the Inter-reservoir operation process on the Red River basin, Son La Hydropower Plant opened a bottom spillway gate of Son La Hydropower Plant at 1:00 p.m. on November 20, 2025 to regulate the lake water level.
A similar situation occurred in Lai Chau Lake, where the upstream water level reached 294.04m; the water flow to the lake reached 874m3/s; the total discharge was 976m3/s. Currently, Lai Chau Hydropower Plant has also closed all spillways and surface spillways, only operating power generation through generators.
At Thac Ba Lake, as of 8:00 a.m. on November 22, the upstream water level reached 58.21 m; the water flow to the lake reached 255 m3/s; the total discharge was 278.1 m3/s. Currently, Thac Ba Hydropower Plant is maintaining 2 floodgates.
Up to this point, most large hydroelectric reservoirs in the North have simultaneously closed to release water, showing that the water source situation has stabilized, creating conditions to ensure safety downstream and maintain stable power production.
