The project to reclaim land, compensate, support and resettle to expand and upgrade Ca Mau Airport is implemented in Tan Thanh Ward, Ca Mau City, affecting 615 households, individuals and organizations. Of which, 518 households, individuals and organizations have land, 97 households have built houses, raised fish on other people's land with an area of about 105.96ha. Land recovered from households, individuals, and organizations is 99.68ha, traffic and irrigation land is 4.21ha, cemetery land is 2.07ha. The total compensation paid is over 577 billion VND.

Immediately after the handover, the units will urgently deploy the construction of the new runway, followed by the construction of the passenger terminal and synchronous auxiliary items.
The project to expand and upgrade Ca Mau Airport has been approved by the Prime Minister in principle according to Decision No. 1188/QD-TTg dated October 15, 2024, to serve the operation of A320, A321 and equivalent aircraft. Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) is the investor, using legal capital with a total investment of about VND 2,400 billion.
According to the planning target for the period 2021 - 2030, Ca Mau airport will reach level 4C, with a capacity of 1 million passengers/year and 1,000 tons of cargo/year; the type of aircraft exploited is Code C (A320, A321 or equivalent), the approach method for landing CAT I at the beginning of 27 and simple at the beginning of9.
By 2050, the airport is oriented to increase its capacity to 3 million passengers/year and 3,000 tons of cargo/year, continuing to serve as a level 4C airport and a level II military airport.
According to the planning for the period 2021 - 2030, the aircraft parking lot south of the runway will meet about four parking locations. Vision to 2050, the planning of the Northern airfield is synchronous with the new civil aviation area, meeting about 10 parking locations and having reserves to expand when needed.
Passenger terminal, period 2021 - 2030, expanding existing passenger terminal to meet the capacity of about one million passengers/year. Vision to 2050, planning a new passenger terminal in the northern part of the runway, with a capacity of about three million passengers/year; reserve land for development when needed.
In the period of 2021 - 2030, the cargo warehouse west of the passenger terminal, near the existing aircraft parking lot, will be planned to meet the capacity of about 1,000 tons of cargo/year. Vision to 2050, planning a cargo warehouse east of the new passenger terminal, meeting the capacity of about 3,000 tons of cargo/year.
