The flood at the end of July caused severe damage to houses in Nghe An with a total of 7,477 houses affected. Of which, 450 houses collapsed, were buried or completely washed away; 5,426 houses were deeply flooded, causing assets to be washed away or damaged after the water receded; 1,601 houses were damaged, including 125 houses damaged over 70%, and 1,476 houses damaged under 70%, in many mountainous communes. Total initial economic damage is estimated at about VND3,767 billion, of which housing and assets alone account for about VND1,545 billion.
Faced with such serious consequences, on the morning of August 7, at the meeting of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Nghe An Provincial Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Duc Trung requested the Provincial People's Committee Party Committee to focus on directing the urgent overcoming of natural disaster consequences, especially supporting people who lost their homes to immediately stabilize their lives.

On August 8, speaking with reporters, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Hong Vinh said that the task of supporting the construction and repair of damaged and drifted houses for people in flooded areas was extremely important. The province is coordinating with the Ministry of Public Security to urgently review, survey on the field, study new house models and repair plans for old houses, and deploy support as soon as possible so that people can quickly stabilize their housing.
Regarding funding sources, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front has approved the Ministry of Public Security to allocate 65 billion VND to Nghe An, including 50 billion VND to build 500 new houses (each house 100 million VND) and 15 billion VND to repair 500 severely damaged houses (each house 30 million VND).
Previously, in document No. 931/TTg-NN dated August 5, 2025, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested localities, including Nghe An, to arrange land and rebuild houses for households that have lost their homes due to natural disasters, to complete by September 2025 at the latest, ensuring safety and suitability with the customs and practices of the people, with support from the military, police and the Fatherland Front for timely implementation.
