On November 26, at the Truong Xuan bridge area across Tra Khuc river (Son Tinh commune, Quang Ngai), a heartbreaking incident occurred when a man hugged two children and jumped into the river. Thanks to the timely detection and rescue of local people, all three were pulled ashore, however, a girl about 2 years old died.
At noon on November 26, the leader of Son Tinh Medical Center said that at around 9:00 a.m. the same day, local people took the two children, including a boy and a girl, to the center for emergency care. When admitted, the girl stopped breathing and showed no signs of survival. Despite the medical team's efforts to revive him, he did not survive. The boy, about 6 years old, is still breathing, receives first aid and is transferred to the Quang Ngai Province Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital for monitoring and treatment.
According to local people, while checking the boat anchored on the banks of Tra Khuc river, they discovered a man from the Truong Xuan bridge hugging the two children and jumping into the water. People immediately rowed a boat to the scene, saved the two children first, then pulled the man back. The two children were taken to Son Tinh Medical Center, while the man, after being rescued, was still in the riverbank area.
A resident living near Truong Xuan Bridge said that before the incident, the man was riding a motorbike carrying the two children. When arriving at the bridge, this person abandoned the motorbike and plunged into the river with the two children.
The authorities are verifying the identities and relationships between the victims, clarifying the cause of the incident.
