Tan Lac is a mountainous district of Hoa Binh province, 30km southwest of Hoa Binh city, with many ethnic groups living together, of which the Muong ethnic group accounts for 85%, the Kinh ethnic group accounts for 14.5%, the rest are other ethnic groups (Thai, Tay, Nung, Dao...).
Over the years, prestigious people in Tan Lac district have promoted their role as core, set good examples, and actively taken the lead in propaganda and mobilization work for ethnic minorities to effectively implement the Party's guidelines and policies and laws of the State, contributing to socio-economic development, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, and ensuring national defense and security in the area.
Tan Lac district currently has 159 prestigious people who are Party cell secretaries, hamlet and residential area chiefs, retired cadres, village elders, businessmen, producers, shamans, sorcerers... With their roles, these prestigious people have been contributing to strengthening the trust of ethnic people in the Party and State, and strengthening the great national unity bloc.
A typical example of a prestigious person is Ms. Quach Thi Thanh (born in 1979, Muong ethnic group in Bao hamlet, Thanh Hoi commune). Ms. Thanh shared: "Although I am young, I am very happy but also worried that the people in the hamlet trust and love me and voted me as a prestigious person. With my efforts and enthusiasm, I have always been an exemplary follower of the Party's policies, the State's policies and laws, and local regulations."
According to Ms. Thanh, it is necessary to promote the core role, set a good example, not afraid of difficulties, go to every alley, knock on every door, mobilize people to help each other develop the economy, eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, eliminate backward customs, preserve and promote good cultural identity, build united, peaceful and developed villages.
Ms. Quach Thi Thanh not only does a good job of propagating and mobilizing people to implement the Party's policies and the State's laws, contributing to socio-economic development, but she and other members of the hamlet mediation team also regularly organize meetings, chat, listen to people's opinions; propagate and mobilize people to sign a commitment not to let their family members violate the law.
According to Mr. Bui Van Chanh - Head of the Ethnic Division of Tan Lac district, thanks to focusing on promoting the role of prestigious people, in recent years, Tan Lac district has been assessed as a locality with stable security and social order.
At the same time, the cultural identity of ethnic groups is preserved and promoted, backward customs are gradually eliminated, the lives of ethnic minorities are gradually improved, they firmly believe in the leadership of the Party, State, and local authorities, and join hands to build their homeland to become more and more prosperous and developed.
