On June 15, leaders of Lam Dong Provincial General Hospital said that patient Y.D (34, residing in D'Ran commune) died after many days of treatment due to forest mushroom poisoning.

According to initial information, on June 13, Mr. D picked wild mushrooms in the forest to process into food for his family. After meals, Mr. D, his wife and two young children showed symptoms of abdominal pain, vomiting, and diarrhea.
The whole family was taken to Don Duong Regional Medical Center for emergency treatment, then transferred to Lam Dong Provincial General Hospital for treatment.
Among them, Mr. D was severely poisoned, in a deep coma, had to undergo blood filtration and intensive treatment but died on June 15. A child of Mr. D is still being monitored and treated at the hospital.
Previously, the Department of Health of Lam Dong province had a document requesting localities to strengthen propaganda and prevent mushroom poisoning during the rainy season.
According to the health sector, at this time the humidity is high, many types of mushrooms grow naturally and develop strongly. People and tourists self-harvesting forest mushrooms for use poses a risk of poisoning, even death.
The health sector recommends that people not harvest, process or use wild mushrooms, strange mushrooms, and mushrooms of unknown origin.
When symptoms such as nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, dizziness appear after eating mushrooms, it is necessary to quickly go to a medical facility for emergency treatment and timely treatment.
