Speaking to reporters on May 9, a leader of Xuan Tao Ward Police (Bac Tu Liem District) said that during the patrol, the unit's working group discovered and arrested two subjects who were stealing SH motorbikes in the area of the Diplomatic Corps urban area.
At noon on May 8, in Xuan Tao ward, two subjects were discovered while doing the act of turning around locking a SH car. Immediately, the Xuan Tao Ward Police working group deployed to arrest him. At the same time, local people also actively coordinated, supported and controlled the subjects right in the urban area.
According to Mr. Tran Hoai Nam (21 years old), a resident who participated in the arrest, recalled: "I was sitting in the restaurant when I saw two strangers passing by many times, showing suspicious signs, so I silently followed. After that, I discovered a man using his hand to turn the car's co, so I immediately rushed out to chase him, causing the subject to run away."
Mr. Nam continued: "A co-worker and I immediately chased and shouted. However, the subjects used a pepper spray to attack, causing the eyes to burst, which was very uncomfortable. However, we are still determined to chase. Finally, a friend of mine knocked down the driver. The other name also ran a further distance and was arrested.
Mr. Nam added that just a few days ago, he also lost a motorbike in this area. "Theft is a frequent problem. On average, one vehicle is lost every two days. People here are very upset, so we have proactively been vigilant and monitored to coordinate in arresting the subjects."
According to Xuan Tao Ward Police, after the two suspects were controlled, the authorities handed them over to the Investigation Police Agency of Hanoi City Police. Currently, the two subjects have been detained for further investigation and clarification of their crimes.
