Pulling water next to a sewer
Recently, Lao Dong Newspaper has received many complaints from people in Bao Ha commune about the water source provided by Bao Ha Clean Water Plant not being guaranteed. What is worrying, according to the people, is that the factory's water suction location is located right next to the domestic sewers of the residential area, causing increasing insecurity.
Ms. Pham Thi Hoai (Lien Ha 1 village, Bao Ha commune) said that people are extremely worried when the input water source of the clean water plant is taken right next to the sewers of the residential area.
"The plant has been sucking water into the tank next to the sewer for a while. We are also worried" - Ms. Hoai said.
Mr. Do Tien Dung (Lam San village, Bao Ha commune) also shared: "We were very surprised to see that the factory's water suction pipes were placed right next to the sewer and not in any other location".
At the end of September, a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper was present at the sewer location that people reported to record this situation. However, the water intake and the road leading to the factory have been dismantled and are no longer in use.
Will check the quality of output water
Regarding the concerns of local people, a representative of Bao Ha Clean Water Plant confirmed the information about draining water from a stream next to a domestic sewer.
However, according to the representative's explanation, the unit only pumped water from the stream to clean the settling tank and wash the mud and sand, not to pump them up and filter them and provide them to the people.
"We have only been draining water there for a few days now and it is only for cleaning the settling tank, not for water filtration. The water source to serve the filter system is using a large pipe to be sucked directly from the Red River, not that small pipe, so the water quality is completely guaranteed" - a representative of Bao Ha Clean Water Plant affirmed.
Ms. Vu Thi Ngat - Vice Chairman of Bao Ha Commune People's Committee - confirmed that the commune has received feedback from people concerned about the status of domestic water provided by Bao Ha Clean Water Plant.
Bao Ha Clean Water Plant currently has a capacity of about 500m3/day and night, supplying water to villages in the commune, with about 1,000 households. Recently, after the people's feedback, we have assigned specialized units to check and verify how the situation is, so we are currently waiting for the results," Ms. Vu Thi Ngat added. According to the commune government, this clean water plant has a small capacity, in the coming time the commune will coordinate with units to increase the capacity to about 1,500m3/day and night to ensure adequate water supply for people.
"We will try to coordinate with the clean water supplier to invite a third party to assess the quality of the outgoing water source. From there, there will soon be a satisfactory answer for people to feel secure in using water" - Vice Chairman of Bao Ha Commune People's Committee informed.
