On the morning of December 4, Mr. Tran Minh Tuan - Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu My commune (Gia Lai province) - said that on the evening of December 3, water from Hoi Khanh lake poured in, causing some areas in the commune to be partially flooded, of which Trung Thanh 2 village recorded the deepest flooding.
According to Mr. Tuan, on the evening of December 3, local forces were present in Trung Thanh 2 village to support flooded households in moving their belongings up high. No human or property damage has been recorded. By the morning of December 4, the rain had decreased, and the water had gradually receded.

Mr. Tran Dinh Trung - Head of Trung Thanh 2 village - said that the water suddenly poured in at night, flooding the houses of some households in the village, the water level was about 60-70cm. At around 2am, the water gradually receded.
"This morning, the water in the residential area has receded, and the spillways are open to traffic. However, the water level of rivers and streams is still large. After the water receded, some points on the downstream embankment of Cay Ke dam appeared to have landslides," said Mr. Trung.

In Phu My Dong commune, Mr. Tran Van Phuc - Secretary of the Commune Party Committee - said that on December 3, the area had heavy rain with a rainfall of 170mm. Water from the mountains overflows, causing local flooding, mainly on the overflow roads.
"From 6pm on December 3, the authorities have blocked off flooded areas to ensure safety, not allowing vehicles and people to pass. By this morning, the weather had stopped and the water had receded," said Mr. Phuc.

According to the Gia Lai Provincial Hydrometeorological Station, from December 4, heavy rain will tend to decrease. The eastern part of the province still has rain, moderate rain, some places have heavy rain with rainfall of 10-30mm, some places over 50mm; the western part of the province has scattered showers and thunderstorms, some places have rainfall of less than 10mm, some places over 15mm.
The meteorological agency warns that heavy rain may continue to cause local flooding in low-lying areas; risk of landslides in steep terrain, weak soil; and accompanied by tornadoes, lightning and strong winds causing roofs to fall or trees to break.
