On the afternoon of July 6, on National Highway 1, km1717+500 through Ham Kiem Commune (Lam Dong Province), a long line of cars waiting for red lights to circulate was recorded.
This area is Ba Bau intersection - the turning point to the access road to Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway and Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet Expressway.

Actual research shows that the red light here counts down from the 81st second. Meanwhile, the green light only lasts for 60 seconds.

Therefore, due to the increased traffic volume returning to Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday afternoons, cars had to line up to wait for red lights in this area.
At one point, the line of vehicles was longer than 1km. Some drivers did not want to wait and turned onto the internal road of Ham Kiem II Industrial Park. After that, the drivers followed the trail to get to the access road to the highway.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tam - Local people said that on weekend afternoons at Ba Bau intersection, there are often many vehicles lining up and moving slowly to wait for red lights.
Sometimes, the green light is turned on, but because vehicles from the opposite direction have not passed, congestion still occurs.

The Ba Bau intersection has many turns combined with a large volume of traffic, so it is easy to lead to traffic conflicts.
Currently, an overpass at this intersection with a scale of 4 lanes is under construction to reduce congestion and ensure safety.

A roundabout will be built under the overpass and the existing Suoi Sup bridge will be expanded. At the same time, at Phan Thiet intersection, a 1.2km long right turn from Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway is also under construction.
The package has a construction period of 8 months, with a total investment of 105 billion VND.
