On the morning of February 26, at the construction site of the Dong Dang - Tra Linh expressway, the People's Committees of Cao Bang and Lang Son provinces and the joint venture of investors officially launched the "Dong Khe Campaign 2026", setting a target to complete phase 1 of the project before May 19, 2026, as directed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
Previously, at the working session on February 20, leaders of the Ministry of Construction said that throughout the route, contractors mobilized more than 1,300 equipment, 2,800 personnel, and organized 210 simultaneous construction teams.
The volume of excavation and embankment reached nearly 40 million m3; 85/93km has been cleared. The output value of phase 1 reached about 65% of the total contract value - a figure showing the determination to accelerate on the large mountainous construction site in the North.
The Dong Dang - Tra Linh expressway is expected to open a strategic connecting axis, shorten travel time, and promote trade in border areas.
In phase 2, Cao Bang province is reviewing the plan to expand 93.35km already built, and at the same time invest in nearly 27.7km connecting to Tra Linh international border gate, striving to complete it in 2027 - about one year earlier than the initial plan.
Concluding the working session, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assessed that the biggest obstacles of the project have basically been removed.
With the spirit of "only discuss doing, not discussing retreating", the head of the Government launched the "Dong Khe Campaign 2026" lasting 85 days and nights, requesting the entire political system to get involved, accelerate progress, and be determined to inaugurate phase 1 on May 19, 2026.
The Prime Minister also requested the Ministry of National Defense to mobilize forces to participate in appropriate tasks, contributing to ensuring the progress and quality of the project.
Real-world records at the construction site show that investors and contractors are mobilizing more than 1,300 equipment and more than 2,800 personnel on 211 construction fronts.
The volume of excavation and filling of the project has reached nearly 40 million m3, equivalent to the volume of excavation and filling of the entire Cao Bang province in about 5 years. To date, the output of phase 1 of the project has reached 7,459/11,476 billion VND (equivalent to 65% of the contract value).
To date, phase 1 of the Dong Dang - Tra Linh expressway project has opened 85/93 km.
The official launch of the campaign by the two localities is not only a commitment on time, but also an affirmation of the determination to complete a key infrastructure project, creating motivation for socio-economic development for the Northeast region.
