More than 2 tons of fat and animal skin of unknown origin discovered in Gia Lai

Gia Lai - Functional forces discovered and temporarily seized more than 2 tons of animal fat and skin of unknown origin at a food processing facility in Quy Nhon ward.

On July 7, Market Management Team No. 5 (Gia Lai Provincial Market Management Sub-Department) coordinated with the Economic Police Department of Gia Lai Provincial Police and functional forces of Quy Nhon Ward to inspect business household T.L. Y. N (residing in Quarter 57, Quy Nhon Ward).

This business household is registered to operate in the fields of wholesale of food (meat and fat), processing, preserving meat and meat products.

Through inspection, functional forces discovered more than 2 tons of animal fat and skin gathered at the facility. The household owner could not present invoices, documents or papers proving the origin of all raw materials.

At the scene, the processing and storage area of raw materials did not ensure food safety and hygiene conditions. Many bags containing fat and animal skin were placed directly on the dirty floor.

Functional forces also discovered 16 20-liter plastic cans containing a liquid suspected to be oil produced from animal fat and skin.

In addition, the floor is greasy and dirty, the production space is damp, tools and materials are arranged in a mixed way, not meeting food safety and hygiene requirements.

Functional forces have made a record and temporarily seized all 2 tons of animal fat and skin along with related exhibits to serve the verification and handling according to regulations. At the same time, continue to clarify the origin of the raw materials and the compliance with food safety regulations of the establishment.
