The Prime Minister requested to continue accelerating, making a breakthrough to strive to have 2,476 km of expressway by August 19 and exceed the target of 3,000 km of expressway by the end of 2025.

On July 31, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh - Head of the State Steering Committee for important national projects and works, key to the transport sector, chaired an online conference to review the work in the first 6 months of 2025 of the Steering Committee and review the peak emulation period "500 days and nights of emulation to complete 3,000 km of expressway".

In the first 6 months of 2025, the Prime Minister - Head of the Steering Committee chaired 4 sessions (15, 16, 17 and 18 sessions), assigned 120 tasks, which were efforts by ministries, branches and localities to implement and basically completed.

The Prime Minister has directly inspected the site 7 times to remove difficulties and obstacles, speeding up the progress of project implementation.

At the same time, 7 inspection teams were established led by Deputy Prime Ministers to directly inspect, direct the operation, and remove difficulties at expressway projects planned to be completed in 2025 to ensure the target of 3,000 km (the Deputy Prime Ministers directly inspected the projects 13 times).

In his concluding remarks, the Prime Minister said that on the occasion of August 19, with the event of starting construction and inaugurating major projects, the whole country will have 2,476 km of highways and 1,397 km of coastal roads (1,000 km ahead of schedule).

It is expected that by the end of the year, it will be completed and exceed the plan set by the 13th National Congress, which is to have at least 3,000 km of highways and 1,000 km of coastal roads (which can reach nearly 2,000 km), basically completing Long Thanh airport; creating momentum, creating force, creating position for the whole country to enter a new era.

Up to now, major projects such as Long Thanh airport have regained their delayed progress. Many important projects have been completed ahead of schedule and put into operation early, helping to increase investment efficiency very clearly, creating new development space, facilitating travel for people, reducing costs, increasing the competitiveness of products, goods, businesses and the economy.

To basically complete the Long Thanh International Airport project in 2025, the Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Finance to direct ACV and relevant agencies and units to review the overall progress of the project, add human resources, equipment, construction teams, organize "3 shifts, 4 teams" to compensate for the delayed progress; strictly control quality, labor safety, organize construction reasonably and scientifically.

Regarding the operation of expressways, the Ministry of Construction will coordinate with localities to speed up site clearance, construct rest stop systems, traffic monitoring systems, toll collection, vehicle load control, ensuring that projects when put into operation must be synchronous, quality, and aesthetic.

Currently, the vertical and vertical expressways across the country have basically been formed or are under construction, expected to be completed in 2025 and 2026.

To maximize investment efficiency, facilitate people and businesses, promote socio-economic development where projects pass through, the Ministry of Construction and localities review the connecting transportation system to ensure the most convenient connection of expressways with economic centers, railway stations, seaports, airports, etc.

The Prime Minister requested agencies that do a good job of emulation and reward, the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Ministry of Finance to prepare proposals to reward organizations and individuals with outstanding achievements at the groundbreaking ceremony and inauguration on August 19, ensuring compliance with regulations.
