On December 3, the MAG Bomb Advisory Group in Vietnam announced that it had coordinated with the Quang Binh Provincial Military Command to successfully handle a 118kg MK81 bomb discovered in a civilian garden in Yen Hoa commune (Minh Hoa district).
Previously, a household in Yen Hoa commune used an excavator to dig a drainage ditch in their garden. When digging to a depth of about 1 meter, they discovered a large bomb. Afterwards, the people reported it to the local authorities. This was a bomb left over from the war.
According to the MAG Bomb Advisory Group in Vietnam, the bomb, which has a lethal radius of up to 1,500m, has been brought to a safe state and transported to a controlled storage area, awaiting destruction according to regulations.
