On July 31, the PeaceTrees VietNam Quang Binh Project said that it had just successfully handled a bomb left over from the war in the province.
On July 29, the project received a request from the Quang Tri Provincial Military Command to support the handling of a large bomb discovered at the T2 Passenger Terminal project, Dong Hoi Airport (Village 6, Loc Dai, Dong Thuan Ward). The bomb partially exposed the body during the deposit placement process, forcing all construction activities to be temporarily suspended to ensure safety.
On the morning of July 30, the MTT2 Multi-Tasks Team of PeaceTrees VietNam in coordination with the Provincial Military Command quickly arrived at the scene. After nearly 2 hours of approaching at a depth of 5m, the authorities determined that this was a MK82 bomb, weighing 227kg.
The process of assessing, handling the detonation and relocation took place between 10:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. the same day, with no take-off/landing flights to ensure absolute safety for the airport and passengers.
The bomb was brought to a safe explosives warehouse that same day. From the beginning of 2025 to now, PeaceTrees VietNam Quang Binh has successfully handled 5 large bombs.
