Military personnel in flooded areas of Da Nang are struggling to overcome flood consequences

Da Nang - On October 31, floods continued to recede rapidly, but many areas were still isolated. The army and people everywhere are focusing on human resources to overcome the consequences.

In the areas surrounding Da Nang City, the Logistics - Technical Department of Military Region 5 has proactively implemented many measures to support people to overcome the consequences of natural disasters and soon stabilize their lives.

Agencies and units under the Department coordinate with local Party committees and authorities to organize cooking and provide food, drinking water, and medicine; support people to move their assets and evacuate from deeply flooded areas, ensuring safety of life and property.

In Nong Son commune, officers and soldiers of K55 Technical Department helped Hoang Dieu Primary School clean up mud, clean classrooms, clear sewers, and soon restore teaching conditions after floods. On the same day, the unit presented 60 gifts including instant noodles and purified drinking water to the people of Ninh Khanh village, Que Phuoc commune.

At Quang Nam General Hospital, the Women's Union and the Youth Union of the Logistics and Technical Department organized the program "Sharing meaningful food - Sharing with people in flooded areas", giving 200 meals to patients and their relatives isolated by floods.

Timely and affectionate activities have demonstrated the spirit of "serving the people", the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" and the core role of the logistics and technical forces of Military Region 5 in responding to and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters.

In Hoi An area, the water is still flooded on some roads in the ancient urban area, Cam Kim, Cam Thanh... However, wherever the water recedes, local people focus on clearing mud and garbage to soon restore normal life.

The Electricity sector also focuses on fixing incidents, checking safety, and re- supplying electricity after floods to serve the people. By October 31, the electricity industry had restored and restored power to nearly 170,000 customers. However, there are still over 300,000 other households that have not yet been restored to power.

According to the Da Nang City Civil Defense Command, heavy rain lasting from October 25 with a record rainfall of more than 1,700mm has caused deep flooding, landslides, and flash floods in many residential areas. The whole city had 8 deaths, 4 missing people, 31 injured people, more than 76,000 households flooded, dozens of collapsed houses, hundreds of hectares of crops and livestock severely damaged.

Millions of arms turn to compatriots affected by storms and floods

Consecutive storms and floods have caused many deaths, missing and injuries; many houses and production and business establishments have had their roofs blown off and suffered heavy damage. People across the northern mountainous provinces and the central provinces are struggling to cope with floods and heavy losses in human lives and property due to floods and thunderstorms.
