Mr. Vu Dai Thang - Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee - emphasized: The support work must be implemented as quickly as possible, most urgently and under the highest conditions of the province. In the immediate future, it is to support food, medicine, and clothing for people in areas affected by floods.
The province will immediately send a working group to Lam Dong to deploy direct support for people in flooded areas. The arrangement of support goods must be really proactive and flexible, ensuring reach for affected people as soon as possible.
The Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee noted that along with emergency support for necessities, there is still much work to be done to overcome the consequences of floods. The Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and departments and branches continue to closely coordinate with agencies and units of Lam Dong province to determine the needs for support, ensuring that the support is implemented practically and effectively.
The health sector is preparing forces to support Lam Dong after the flood recedes. Along with support from the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and socialized sources, the provincial budget will initially support 50 billion VND for Lam Dong province to overcome damage to infrastructure and houses for people.
Previously, on November 20, the Party Committee, government and people of Quang Ninh province presented support funds to Gia Lai, Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak provinces, each province, worth 5 billion VND, to join hands to overcome the consequences of floods and stabilize people's lives.
From August 2025 to present, Quang Ninh has supported provinces affected by natural disasters with a total budget of 73 billion VND.
At the meeting on the morning of November 21, after listening to the Central Party Office report on the flood situation in the South Central and Central Highlands, the Politburo and the Secretariat decided to establish 5 working groups led by Party and State leaders to directly inspect, direct and urge the work to overcome the consequences.
The Politburo assigned Hanoi to support Gia Lai; Ho Chi Minh City to support Khanh Hoa; Hai Phong to support Dak Lak; Quang Ninh to support Lam Dong, with the task of providing food, clothing, medicine and medical staff for flooded areas.
According to the report, the unusual flood from November 16 to 20 caused great damage in Da Nang, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong: many people died and went missing, injured; more than 52,000 houses were flooded; 167 houses were damaged; more than 13,000 hectares of crops, 2,100 hectares of perennial trees were damaged; more than 30,700 livestock and poultry were swept away. Many residential areas were isolated; road and railway traffic between the North and the South was cut off.
In Lam Dong alone, many places were affected by landslides and deep flooding; thousands of households had to be urgently evacuated. The authorities were all night to rescue and evacuate people to safety. The flood caused great damage to people and property, severely affecting people's lives.
