Regularly traveling by 5-seat car on National Highway 1A, Mr. Hung (character's name has been changed, Dai Ngai commune, Can Tho city) said that recently, some sections of the road have appeared densely populated with potholes and water stagnated after rain or high tides, causing danger to road users.

"This section of road is difficult to travel during the day, but at night or for people unfamiliar with the road, it is easy to break loose, leading to accidents. I hope the authorities will soon check and repair it to ensure the safety of the people, Mr. Hung suggested.

Not only road users, but also people living on both sides of the route are affected. Ms. Ngo Thi Dep, who lives next to Km2106 National Highway 1A towards Soc Trang (old) said that this area is often deeply flooded and heavily damaged.
"Every time there is heavy rain or high tide, the water is half a wheel, many vehicles stalled in the middle of the road. Some cars collapsed so hard that their license plates were blown off, said Ms. Dep.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh - Director of Road Management Area IV said that the unit is currently preparing procedures for bidding for the flood prevention project on National Highway 1A, the section passing through the Mekong Delta.
"It is expected that in December 2025, Road Management Area IV will select a contractor, and will begin the project in January 2026," Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh informed.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, while waiting for the project to be implemented, the unit can only temporarily patch the degraded road surfaces to ensure safe traffic, limiting widespread damage.
Road Management Area IV also regularly conducts surveys on the current status of the road surface. According to statistics, currently on National Highway 1A managed by the unit, there are 53 locally flooded areas, mainly concentrated in: Can Tho, Vinh Long and Ca Mau.
