Gia Lai - The development of a separate Bien Ho - Chu Dang Ya National Tourist Area Plan has been stopped to be integrated into the expanded Pleiku urban master plan.

On July 27, information from Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee said that currently, the provincial government is organizing the development of the Pleiku expanded urban master plan, which integrates the Bien Ho - Chu Dang Ya National Tourist Area Plan.

Therefore, the planning for the construction of Bien Ho - Chu Dang Ya National Tourist Area (scale of about 6,300ha) must be stopped, even though the province had previously organized an idea contest to develop this tourist area.

Thus, the contents on spatial development, tourism, technical infrastructure, landscape and environmental protection of Bien Ho - Chu Dang Ya area will be integrated into the General Planning of Pleiku expanded urban area to ensure the unity and synchronization of the planning system.

The Department of Construction is urgently implementing the general planning of Pleiku expanded urban area. The Provincial People's Committee also agreed on the policy of hiring foreign consulting units to coordinate with domestic consulting units to develop the plan.

In which, the research will closely follow the development orientation of Bien Ho - Chu Dang Ya National Tourist Area, and at the same time create a basis for implementing investment and tourism development projects in the coming time.

In November every year, the million-year-old Chu Dang Ya volcano (Bien Ho commune) attracts a large number of tourists to visit and admire the blooming wild sunflowers. Along with gong festivals and the traditional culture of the Jrai, Ba Na people..., this area always has a great attraction for tourists.

Mr. Pham Anh Tuan - Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee affirmed that Bien Ho - Chu Dang Ya area is a rare landscape area, with special value at the national and provincial levels. Therefore, the planning process needs to be implemented urgently but still must ensure thoroughness, methodicalness, and harmony between preservation and development.

The plan will focus on investing in transport infrastructure, expanding landscape protection areas, towards sustainable development goals.
