Not choosing the path of a worker like many of the same age, Ms. Hoang Thi Yen, born in 1993, a women's union member of Yen Binh commune (Lang Son), decided to return to her hometown to start a business.
From empty hands, with the determination and spirit of daring to think and daring to do, she has successfully built a comprehensive livestock model, becoming a typical example in the local "Women Start-up" movement.
Born into a poor family and early in her family, Ms. Yen's life has encountered many difficulties. In 2012, the couple submitted an application to work as workers, but after a period of realizing that their work was hard, away from home, and their income was unstable, the couple decided to return to their hometown to find another direction.
Recognizing the potential for livestock development in the locality, in 2017, after borrowing 50 million VND from the Social Policy Bank, Ms. Yen boldly invested in building a barn, starting with pig and poultry farming.
In the early days of her career, she had limited experience, little capital, and high risks, but she was not discouraged. Working and learning, Ms. Yen actively participates in animal husbandry training courses organized by the Women's Union and the agricultural sector, while researching through books, the Internet and learning from previous households.
Thanks to perseverance, her herd of pets has gradually developed stably, bringing in an increasingly good income. Currently, her family's farm regularly maintains nearly 100 pigs, more than 5,000 chickens and about 2,000 ducks per year.
Not only stopping at developing the family economy, Ms. Yen is also an active member in local activities. She regularly exchanges experiences, provides technical support to other women's union members, encourages women to boldly borrow capital, and applies technical advances to build effective production models. Thanks to her sharing and help, many women in the village have more motivation and learned how to do business to escape poverty.
From the effectiveness of Ms. Yen's model, the Women's Union of Yen Binh commune assessed this as one of the typical examples of Project 939 "Supporting women to start businesses".
According to the Women's Union of Yen Binh commune, since the implementation of Project 939, the commune has seen many examples of women who are good at economics. Ms. Yen's case is typical, from a poor household, she boldly borrowed 50 million VND to develop livestock farming, now she has enough to live on, and the family's economy is stable.
Not only has she been recognized as a sustainable poverty reduction household, for many consecutive years, her family has achieved the title of "Cultural Family". In 2022, Ms. Yen's model was chosen by the Women's Union of Huu Lung district as one of the 5 typical startup ideas.
Today's achievements are the result of the efforts, creativity and spirit of overcoming difficulties of Ms. Hoang Thi Yen - a woman who dares to dream and dares to do right on her homeland. Her story is not only a testament to her determination to escape poverty, but also inspires many other rural women to confidently start a business and get rich legitimately.
