On the morning of August 26 in Hanoi, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a conference to summarize the program and emulation movement "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses".
In his concluding remarks, the Prime Minister stated that in reality, the State capital is supported with 50 million VND (later increased to 60 million VND) for each newly built house, but in reality, many houses have been built with a budget of 200-300 million VND, from the support, cooperation, and contributions of the people.
This shows the Party's will to meet the people, resources originating from thinking and vision, motivation originating from innovation and creativity, and strength originating from people and businesses.
To date, within 1 year and 4 months, the Central Steering Committee and localities have conducted a rapid campaign, mobilizing over 24.7 trillion VND (people have contributed and mobilized nearly 12.3 trillion VND from socialized resources), supporting more than 2.7 million working days with more than 454,000 participants.
Therefore, 334,234 temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide have been completed, converted into new, spacious, "3 hard" houses (hard roof, hard walls, hard floor) with 12 house models suitable for each location's conditions.
The Prime Minister emphasized that this is a miracle in sustainable poverty reduction, consolidating the foundation for the development perspective for social justice, progress and sustainability of our country in the new era.
According to the Prime Minister, we have basically completed the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide. However, this is only an important stage in social policy.
The core is still to continue to promote production and business, create jobs, livelihoods, constantly improve the quality of life and material and spiritual life for the people, encourage people to escape poverty sustainably, move towards enrichment, rise up from "hand, brain, land, skyframe, seawall", surpass oneself, legitimately get rich for oneself and contribute to society.
Identifying housing care and support for meritorious people, poor households, near-poor households, and people living in areas frequently affected by natural disasters and climate change as a regular, continuous, and long-term task. Ministries, branches and localities need to continue reviewing and promptly completing housing support policies.
For 334,234 households that have been supported to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, this is only the first foundation for "resettlement" - in the coming time, it is necessary to continue to support these households to "lost their jobs", striving for Vietnam to basically no longer have poor households by 2030.
The Ministry of Finance shall preside over and coordinate with ministries, branches and localities to thoroughly grasp the Party's policy on using the state budget as the main resource, the foundation in ensuring social security along with mobilizing social resources, especially in vocational training, solving livelihoods and employment for the poor and ethnic minorities.
Attach the responsibility of local Party committees and authorities in mobilizing, managing and using resources to implement policies to support vocational training, solve livelihoods, employment, health, education, housing, etc., first of all for households supported to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.

The head of the Government also suggested that the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations actively coordinate with the Government, ministries, branches and localities in ensuring social security.
Supervise and review the process of building and implementing social security policies; regularly pay attention to and grasp the thoughts and aspirations of the people, make recommendations to Party committees and authorities at all levels to promptly resolve related issues, ensure the people's rights.
Request the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security to direct the people's armed forces to continue promoting revolutionary traditions, being closely attached to the people, both as the core force protecting sovereignty and national security, and as a solid support in socio-economic development, ensuring social security for people, especially in border areas, islands, remote areas.
