Launching a high-point campaign to suppress crime in Phu Quoc

Kien Giang - Phu Quoc City Police deployed forces and means to carry out the peak, prioritizing immediate resolution of urgent and complicated issues that arose.

On December 15, Phu Quoc City Police (Kien Giang Province) held a launching ceremony to carry out a peak campaign to attack and suppress crime to ensure security and order for the Lunar New Year 2025.

According to the plan, the City Police directed the teams and the police of communes and wards, according to their functions and tasks, to focus on doing a good job of grasping the situation, reviewing routes, areas and key fields, identifying subjects and areas that need to be focused on fighting, developing plans, assigning specific targets, assigning forces and means to organize the implementation of the peak period, prioritizing the immediate resolution of urgent and complicated issues that arise.

During the preparation period for the peak implementation (from November 15 to present), the City Police have organized 94 patrols and controls to ensure security, order and traffic safety. Focused on investigating and discovering 25/27 cases of crimes against social order (reaching 92.5%); arrested and handled 20 subjects; Prepared records and sent 16 subjects to drug rehabilitation.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Doan Van Tien - Vice Chairman of Phu Quoc City People's Committee - acknowledged and highly appreciated the plan for the peak period of crime suppression (from December 15, 2024 to February 14, 2025) developed by the City Police. Currently, the city is focusing resources to develop Phu Quoc according to the Government's policy; striving to turn Phu Quoc into a regional and international tourism center; building a green, clean, beautiful, safe and civilized city.

During the Lunar New Year, economic and social activities are bustling, travel demand increases, many people from other localities come to the island, including foreigners, and the exchange of goods will increase, these are factors that affect security and order.

Vice Chairman of Phu Quoc City People's Committee Doan Van Tien requested to promote the combined strength of the entire political system and the entire population to participate in the implementation of the peak. Strengthen propaganda and mobilization work for cadres, civil servants, public employees and people to actively prevent, detect and denounce crimes.

Heads of agencies, departments, branches and organizations who are members of the City Steering Committee must enhance their roles and responsibilities during the peak period. The City Police strengthen the work of grasping and forecasting the situation, and do a good job of advising the City Party Committee and the City People's Committee to direct measures to ensure security and order. Focus on cracking down on crime, especially gangs and groups of subjects engaged in land disputes and occupation, violations of the law, crimes related to "black credit", crimes using weapons and explosives to commit crimes, crimes of robbery, snatching, extortion, theft, fraud, gambling, etc.

Strengthen the detection and fight against corruption, economic crimes, smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, banned goods; social evils such as drugs, gambling, prostitution, etc. Strictly manage weapons, explosives, support tools and fireworks; carry out fire prevention and fighting well, prevent fires and explosions. In addition, strengthen measures to ensure traffic safety, minimize traffic accidents during the Lunar New Year.

Immediately after the launching ceremony, officers and soldiers of Phu Quoc City Police and related forces marched on the main streets of Duong Dong ward to propagate and raise people's awareness of crime prevention and social evils, creating a determined atmosphere to attack and suppress crime throughout the force.
