Sustainable development - Not a single journey
Saigon Beer - Alcohol - Beverage Corporation (SABECO) understands that a sustainable and circular future cannot happen if each person only acts alone. We need to closely accompany the common goal and specific actions between the relevant parties. Therefore, since July 2024, SABECO has partnered with the Vietnam Packaging Recycling Alliance (PRO Vietnam) - an organization that gathers businesses to work together towards the goal of recycling and reducing waste to create a green, circular future for Vietnam.

Proactively participating with PRO Vietnam in building a sector-wide strategy for sustainable packaging and post-consumption collection, SABECO contributes to raising awareness of environmental protection in all regions of the country, coordinating with local authorities to expand the waste collection network nationwide. Thereby, the packaging industry in Vietnam is gradually shifting towards more sustainability.
In parallel, SABECO complies with regulations and implements extended producer responsibility (EPR) policies, through programs to raise awareness of infrastructure cooperation and promote data transparency - contributing to improving capacity to comply with national policies and synchronizing with the industry.
Realizing the goal of a circular economic model
SABECO is transforming its vision of a specific action-oriented circular economy model with outstanding achievements in the field of packaging recycling and sustainable resource use.
In 2024, at SABECO, 100% of main and secondary packaging will be recycled or reused, including plastic crates, glass bottles, aluminum cans and cartons.
In addition, initiatives to reduce packaging weight and thin packaging designs from 2019 to present have helped reduce 15% of total packaging volume - increasing resource efficiency while maintaining product quality.
In fact, the 6 step modern and environmentally friendly waste management decentralization model: Prevention - Reduction - Reuse - Recycling - recovery - Treatment is being implemented consistently at all SABECO factories.
The company representative said that since 2019, SABECO has applied a policy of water management for the entire company. By 2024, SABECO has reduced the amount of water needed for the beer brewing process by 5.7% compared to 2023, through initiatives such as rainwater collection and reuse of treated water for unnecessary activities, saving costs and protecting resources.
These results prove that the circular economy model is not a distant thing that can be completely implemented if businesses are determined.
Promoting green energy conversion
SABECO understands that in the sustainable development strategy in parallel with the circular economy roadmap, it is also necessary to reduce carbon emissions, towards the Government's goal of net zero emissions, especially in the field of climate change resilience, resource efficiency and integrated development.
SABECO boldly invests in renewable energy throughout the system, aiming to achieve the goal of net zero emissions by 2050 and commit to increasing the share of renewable energy use to 50% by 2030.
As of 2024, 64% of SABECO's plants have been operated by rooftop solar power systems, contributing to increasing the share of renewable energy consumption to 40.54% and reducing the power consumption intensity by 46% compared to 2020. Converting diesel-powered trucks to environmentally friendly liquefied petroleum trucks, replacing fossil fuel boilers with biomass boilers, expected to help reduce about 7,405 tons of CO2e per year.
EsG pillars are considered in all business decisions from production, supply chain to community investment with the principles of transparency, environmental responsibility and creating sustainable values for the country.
For a greener, stronger Vietnam
In addition to efforts to transform green within the business, SABECO also implemented many community development initiatives such as "63 Connections - 1 Tet Sum Vay" to create a joyful Spring space and give 7,000 Tet gifts in 63 provinces and cities, with the participation of more than 750 SABECO employees, bringing joy to more than 37,500 local people; Project "Enhancing Sports Steps": Building 30 community playgrounds and organizing more than 1,280 local sports activities to spread a balanced and healthy lifestyle; "Lighting up rural roads & Lighting up border roads" installed 109 km of street lights using solar energy in rural areas across 63 provinces and cities, bringing direct benefits to more than 75,000 people...

Sustainable development is a long journey, requiring everyone's cooperation. SABECO is proud to be one of the pioneering enterprises, proving that economic growth and environmental protection can go hand in hand.
With the motto "Marching up", SABECO is committed to continuing to accompany Vietnam on the path of sustainable development, for a more prosperous future for today's and future generations.
