Two packages 3 months ahead of schedule, celebrating the April 30 holiday
These April days at the Long Thanh airport project site in Binh Son commune, Long Thanh district are in the hot and dry season of the Southern weather. Nearly 10,000 experts, engineers, workers, laborers and nearly 3,000 construction equipment are rushing together to " sprint", taking advantage of favorable weather to complete and exceed the construction schedule.
Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) said that all packages of component project 3 - Long Thanh airport phase 1 are being simultaneously implemented.
These are packages 4.6 of runways, package 4.7 of aircraft parking lots, package 4.8 of inland transportation, package 4.9 of fuel supply, package 5.10 of passenger terminals, package 6.12 of connecting transportation, package 11.5 of parking...
Among the above packages, there are two packages that are ahead of schedule and are technically open to traffic on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the complete Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
That is package 4.6, construction of runways, ACV is determined to direct construction units to complete and technically exploit runways and taxiways before April 30, 2025, 3 months ahead of schedule in the contract.
For package 6.12, the construction of 2 routes connecting Long Thanh airport is also strived to complete and open Technical traffic of Line 1 before April 30, 2025, and complete the handover and putting the project into use before September 2, 2025.
Currently, route T1 has reached more than 90% of the volume, route T2 has completed over 65% of the volume and will start paving from June 2025. In this package, there is a need for 1,000 workers and machines working day and night, striving to complete both lines 3 months earlier than planned.
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, Mr. Nguyen Duc Thuan - Deputy Executive Director of the Joint Venture for package 5.10, construction of Long Thanh airport passenger terminal - said that more than 5,000 experts, engineers, workers, and laborers are being mobilized to urgently construct, constructing day and night to ensure quality and progress of the project.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Le Van Tien - belonging to the Aviation Construction Corporation (ACC) - Commander of the Contractor of the Contractor Package 4.6, Construction of Long Thanh Airport Return: The Contractor Joint Venture also maintains the construction of the ceremony, construction "3 shifts, 4 crews", human resources, machinery and equipment to ensure achieved construction and overcome progress.
Long Thanh Airport proves the capacity of Vietnamese officials and engineers
In the overall Long Thanh airport project, phase 1, package 5.10 "Construction and installation of equipment for passenger terminal works" is the roadmap for the progress of the entire project. This package is constructed by Vietur consortium, started in July 2023, with a completion schedule according to the contract of November 30, 2026 (39 months). However, the progress was later adjusted to basically complete the construction before December 31, 2025.
Currently, the project has completed the underground reinforced concrete structure, floors 1, 2, 3, 4 and is installing water supply systems, air conditioning - ventilation systems, light electrical - electrical systems, fire prevention and fighting systems, fire alarm systems, and station equipment systems.
On the roof of the station, the contractors are simultaneously the installation of steel structure, glass wall surface at the station and central areas. In early April 2025, Vietur Joint Venture, ATAD steel structure member, coordinated with the subcontractor VSL, successfully implemented the structure of the steel roof structure center of Long Thanh airport station with a combination of pull and push by hydraulic jack (Lifting) after more than 8 days, ensuring accuracy, quality and safety.
The total weight of the steel roof is up to more than 5,300 tons, assembled from 256 connection points, meeting European control standards. The roof has a curved arch structure with an area of nearly 20,000m2, including a cantilever (cantilever) up to 41m long that emerges.
The entire giant structure is powered by 56 specialized hydraulic shock devices, each of which can withstand a load of 40 to 330 tons, helping to ensure a safe and accurate installation process.
According to ACV, the successful lifting of the steel roof structure center of the passenger terminal is an important milestone in the construction progress of Long Thanh Airport project, as concluded by the Ministry of Construction: "To ensure the progress of the passenger terminal, the steel structure of the steel structure is extremely important, determining the progress of package 5.10 in particular and the progress of the whole project." This is also a symbol of technical progress in Vietnam's construction industry, proving the management capacity of the Long Thanh Airport Project Management Board as well as the technical level of the Vietnamese engineer team not inferior to advanced countries in the world.
