The 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen transmission line project is a national key project that has been approved for investment by the Prime Minister.
The project has a total investment of more than VND 7,410 billion, a length of 229.5km, with a total of 468 power pole foundation locations passing through Lao Cai and Phu Tho provinces.

According to Lao Dong in the first days of construction, the transportation of hundreds of tons of steel, wires, and super-school equipment to erect massive electric poles in the middle of high mountain terrain and deep streams encountered many difficulties.

At the pole locations in Thuong Ha commune, Lao Cai province, specialized vehicles with 3 bridges sloped down the slope, while in front of the excavator, they had to go ahead to remove mud and pull the support cable.
Each meter of road is dozens of minutes of brain-tenching for drivers and technical staff. Many sections are just wide enough for wheels, with deep, steep abyss on both sides.
In some locations such as 78, 79, the entire foundation is located on the top of the mountain in the shape of a hat, the flat surface is narrow, and materials must be transported in small pieces.

Or like column No. 56, the longer slope, specialized vehicles have to be divided into many small trips, combining both trailers and dump trucks, pulling each section. Every time it rains, the mud is thick, the vehicle can only get by meters.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan - a worker at the construction site shared: "D determining that the rainy season affects the construction, we work overtime at night. The main work is digging the foundation, pouring the foundation and perfecting techniques.
Due to overtime, the brothers get additional meals at night as well as increased income. Although it is difficult, our workers clearly define the spirit from the beginning: We must do our best to ensure the project reaches the finish line on schedule.

According to the workers, spreading 500kV wires and pulling them across rivers and mountains is a difficult period for the electricity industry, this job requires workers to have flexible health and experience to do it.

"First of all, the electrician will spread ropes along the road, connecting from the top of one pole to the other to make a bidding line. This bidding cable was then stretched to the pillar and then tied to a 500kV power cable to pull it up.
When the wire was removed to the necessary location, 2 workers were waiting to do the task of locating the wire in the porous insulation to securely insulate the electricity. At this time, the worker has completed his work...", said Mr. Vu Quang Chien (Lam Dong power transmission team, Power transmission Company 3), who has 10 years of experience in pulling wires.

On August 8, 2025, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - Thai Thu Xuong and the working delegation visited and encouraged workers of the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) to participate in supporting the construction of the Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV transmission line project.
At the positions, the Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor acknowledged and commended the efforts of EVNNPT and power transmission units in supporting the project.

The leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor also shared the difficulties of workers when having to construct in harsh weather conditions.
However, project participants need to continue to compete in labor with high determination, synchronously deploy items along the entire route to ensure the overall progress of the project.
After successfully energizing the Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV Line project and the Lao Cai 500kV Transformer Station project and the connecting 220kV lines, EVN, Power Project Management Board 1 will coordinate with relevant units on the construction site to continue completing the project to put it into official operation.

Attending the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Phan Van Anh - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor shared: The 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen Power Line Project, a national key project, is a symbol of the spirit of "Patriotism Emulation", a specific product of the emulation movement "Promoting the development of synchronous and modern infrastructure; practicing thrift and fighting waste" launched by the Prime Minister.
According to Mr. Phan Van Anh, this is a project jointly launched by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and EVN with the theme: "Three pioneers - Two responsibilities".
The emulation movement at construction sites has become an inspirational flame, connecting the will of tens of thousands of cadres, engineers, and workers, fostering the spirit of solidarity and determination of workers in the common aspiration of "Completing as soon as possible, safest, most effectively".
