Thanh Hoa - A section of the Ma River bank in Vinh Loc district suffered serious erosion, causing a section of the dike to collapse.

According to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, after heavy rain on the night of September 30, a section of the Ma River dike (in Long Van hamlet, Ninh Khang commune, Vinh Loc district, Thanh Hoa province) suffered serious landslides, with many rocks and soil swept into the river. Even a section of the dike collapsed. Local authorities had to put up ropes and put up danger warning signs in this area.

People living near the landslide said that on the night of September 30, it was raining heavily. They were sleeping when they heard a loud noise. When they went out to see, they discovered that the river embankment had collapsed.

The representative of Ninh Khang Commune People's Committee added: From about 2:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. on October 1, a serious landslide occurred on the embankment of the Ma River (location K9+900-K10+100, Ninh Khang Commune, Vinh Loc District). The incident caused a part of the embankment and the dike road to collapse.

The landslide is 71m long and 20.5m wide; the dike was eroded and about 15m2 was swept away into the river. The risk of landslides continues to develop.

The representative of Ninh Khang Commune People's Committee said that this is considered a dangerous incident, causing the dike system to be unsafe, threatening the lives and property of the people. Currently, the locality has directed the functional forces to the scene to cordon off and set up barriers around the dangerous area, ensuring the safety of the people.
